More divisive than pineapples on pizza ๐Ÿ•

For some reason, watch nerds like us will debate about the most mundane aspects of this hobby. One that perpetuates through social media is the leather-strap-on-a-dive-watch argument. For me personally, I think it looks great and dresses up an otherwise sporty design. As a certified desk diver in a landlocked state, Iโ€™m not too concerned with ISO compliance or salt water deteriorating my straps. I feel free to enjoy more flexibility when it comes to dive watches. No offense to the purists in the community, but Iโ€™d rather live outside the box and enjoy different combinations than arbitrarily stick to the rigid standards that have no bearing on my lifestyle. Rant over, happy Tuesday all! โŒš๏ธ๐Ÿซก

I have no idea what you're talking about.

But anchovies are another story.

Sorry but I tried pineapple on a pizza and it was nasty. Leather and divers look great though.

Canโ€™t agree on everything, but at least we agree on the leather-diver debate ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

What strap is that on your Duro?

ยท

I donโ€™t like pineapple on pizza, but donโ€™t care if others do. Love leather on a diver, and donโ€™t care if others donโ€™t.

Itโ€™s a Ritche 22mm leather, in saddle brown I believe? Found on Amazon for ~$20, hard to argue with especially once they break in!

There are three things all Canadians are ashamed to have inflicted on the world. Celine Dion, Justin Bieber, and Hawaiian Pizza.

There is nothing divisive about pineapple on pizza. There are the people that know itโ€™s awesome, and the people that are wrong, lol!

So I am a certified SCUBA diver with many years and many dives under my belt. When I am actually diving I wear neoprene wetsuit or a drysuit. It is quite appropriate when I am in the water. However, when I am not in the water I wear normal street clothes and have even been known to wear a suit now and then. It is quite appropriate for when I am not in the water. Therefore I say hell yes put leather on that dive watch when on dry land. If you are taking your watch in the water, put it on rubber or stainless as that is quite appropriate!!

Absolute legendary comment, well said good sir ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ canโ€™t argue with this logic ๐Ÿซก

I do not quite get how so many view leather straps merely as a way to dress up a watch. For me, I put leather straps on just about anything. I find bracelets hard to adjust, heavy to wear, and hairpully - and in my youth I even encountered bracelets I was allergic too. Canvas straps can be good to wear (some are scratchy) but attract gunk like a wild hog with an itching skin. Regarding dive watches: the watch style does not appeal to me, and the last time I went diving in the sea this was on top of the charts.

Regarding Hawaiian pizza - not my favourite, but it has attracted far more scorn than it deserves. Why? For one, there are worse-tasting food combinations that are a thing which noone talks about, like Sardines in tomato sauce๐Ÿ˜•. For two, once you are comfortable with the thought that not all pizzas are margheritas, it's a trial-and-error food anyway. For three, Italians have some weird food rules, such as no milk after breakfast, not even in coffee [I suspect they are still widely lactose-intolerant]. I happily break most of these.

I guess itโ€™s all about perspective: most divers are viewed as tool watches and therefore come stock with a rubber dive strap or mediocre bracelet. A leather strap takes away the rough โ€œtool watchโ€ aesthetic and elevates it a bit. I believe this is because most dress watches come with leather straps, so when someone sees a dive watch with a leather strap, it looks like a blend between a dress watch and tool watch. Thatโ€™s how I see it anyway, cheers! ๐Ÿป

That band really makes it look like it punches way above its weight. I'm going to have to show your picture to my brother. I bought him that Duro for his birthday last year.

Diver watch on a leather strap? Not a problem.

Pineapple on pizza? I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. Itโ€™s the only way to beย sure.

ยท

I actually do have an internal struggle putting leather on a dive watch. Itโ€™s like Derek Zoolander not being able to turn left.

Excellent choice, it really is the best at the $50 price point! Check Amazon for the Ritche leather straps, 22mm lug width!

Challenges are mean to be overcome, my friend. We must rise to the occasion with leather-clad divers, itโ€™s the only way ๐Ÿ˜‚
