Sinn 556 Japan Limited Editions

I saw these 2 limited edition 556s at a watch shop in Hiroshima.  Does anyone know anything about them?  The second one says F-4 Phantom Squadrons on it so I assume it is a special piece for the Japanese Air Self Defense Force.  Even if no one has any details about these models, I thought it would be nice to share with my fellow Sinners.

I feel that second one could have been a little more subtle, but no I don’t have any information.

Actually, a quick search turned up these

So I imagine those are symbols of the Japanese Air Defense Squadron. Interestingly, I don’t think they fly the f4 any longer.

Ok, seriously, that watch looks like one of those NBA jerseys with all the team logos on it. It doesn’t look very…German.

·

Never seen either of these. Extremely interesting. Neither of them really my style but a left hand drive Sinn 556 and another full of logos. I wonder what else exists out there

@thekris I agree fully, doesn't look very German and it doesn't remind of those watches haha

I wish I could just walk into a store and see a Sinn… but Alaska. Lucky if I even see a Seiko

I think you are right.  I think they are replacing them with the F-35.

I think Sinn is more popular in Japan than in the States.  I have ran into 2 Sinn dealers in Japan now.  I know there are some more Japan only releases out there as well too.

I’ve got a coworker/friend with a 104 and it kind of cemented that I’ll get a Sinn of some sort one day

It's a Japan release to commemorate the retirement of the F4

Hated the one with all the logos on it until I saw "F-4 Phantom Squadron" on the dial, then it immediately became insanely cool. Haha.

I think a series of watches with one logo each would be real cool.  What they did there just seems super-busy.

I really like that 3/6/9 one.  You didnt happen to get a reference number did you?  Id ditch my 556A for that dial.

·

Wow! That 3,6,9 Flieger is awesome!
The best 556 in my opinion. I hate the completely wrong typography of the 12 on the 556a and the missing orientation of the 556i.
This dial fixes both.

via the link above ...

856.FLIEGER.Ⅱ

The 856.FLIEGER.II features a satin-finished case, similar to the first model 856.FLIEGER, with a slender Arabic numeral index. The difference from the first model is that the index, which was 11 Arabic numerals, is styled with the same 4 points as the regular model. In addition, the style in which the crown is placed at the 9 o'clock position, which is the opposite position to the normal position, is also different from the first model in consideration of usability and safety. In addition, the three gin technologies commonly installed in the 856 series are marked with a logo at 9 o'clock on the dial on this model.
Limited to 50 pieces in Japan, this model emphasizes its identity with the German word "FLIEGER", which means "pilot" at 6 o'clock on the dial.
