Do you have a new watch ritual?

Whenever I pick up a new watch I usually wear it for days if not weeks after the purchase. I will swap out straps as well, to get the full experience with it.

How do you guys do it? Do you give a lot of wrist time to your new purchases, or do you quickly get back to a rotation?

Yes for tool watches where I don鈥檛 fear scratches too much. No for dressier pieces which I would only wear when risk is low.

Makes sense. I would do the same thing.

My new watch ritual is to bang it against a door knob.

I don't give a lot of wrist time but a few days when brand new and then I fit it right into the rotation. I don't switch straps right away to get a feel for it the way I bought it.

Oh yes. The best description I鈥檝e ever heard it called is the new watch honeymoon. I wear it for weeks sometimes before going back into the box.

That is how I do it.

The first 3 weeks they get a lot of wrist time and normally a second strap. But regardless I wear two watches almost every day. After 3 weeks they find a more normal place in the rotation.

New watches generally end up getting more wrist time than older watches because of excitement. When I first got my speedmaster I was more careful and only wore it on special occasions because of much I spent on it. But I would take it out an admire it everyday haha.

I don't particularly have any rituals, but I know a lot of people do. Per @Max's latest video, he has a very particular ritual...

I keep a tube of Polywatch around when I want to rub one out with my watch - it鈥檚 sorta like a bonding experience

To each their own, I guess....馃槙...... he's not wrong though the 356 is pretty sweet, just not that sweet馃槀.

Nope, pretty boring, just wear it and I actually spend more time deciding if I鈥檓 going to keep it. There are a few pieces where I 100% know, but a lot need to fit into my life, style and appeal or not.

This 鈽濓笍

All my watches eventually have to suffer the Shower of Doom, except for the three that I bought before my 'at least 100m water resistance' requirement.

Since I live in a humid environment, I usually swap out the original straps to keep them in mint or good condition and use alternative straps or bracelets for daily wear and tear. When I get a new watch, I will usually wear it for at least several days until I start missing my other watches.

Funny, i have the same ritual ....every time.

I tend to wear them for a couple of days and monitor the accuracy to gain confidence and get the feel for the watch.

Pretending like I'm not so impressed about the watch so my wife don't think much of it.

Ha! I thought it was just me! I absolutely mirror your actions-mostly. It takes me a little while to swap out the straps but I鈥檝e it to more than a few of my watches.

I will usually put any automatic watch into a winder at the correct settings for at least 24hrs or hand wind to full and repeat the excercise the next day. When the watch has settled I put it on the timegrapher. Only after the watch shows a decent reading will I put it on my wrist. It will most likely go straight into rotation with the "competition". I will change straps after I have worn it a few times.

I get back to rotation but I give priority to new one when I am in confusion

I usually hide it from my wife for a few weeks then slowly work it into the rotation on and old strap so it does not get noticed.

I like this version of Seamaster, which year and model is it?

I don鈥檛 have rotation. I just wear it until my heart tells I have enough.
