Watch box build

I saw this topic come up and thought I would share what I came up with. I am a designer, and so I am programmed to question convention.

My approach was to build three boxes each that hold four watches. Each box then holds a dress, sport, interesting complication, and a tool watch. Ideally, the four watches, in each tray, should compliment each other. Making each tray a complete four watch collection. A collection within a collection.

To add to the somewhat Baroque rules. Additionally, each box can't have more than one Seiko and watches can only be upgraded followed by selling the replaced watch. I haven't been too good on that part yet, and would happily accept any advice on how best to sell watches.

The boxes just sit on a side table, so I didn't include subdivisions and pillows.

Ahh, the games we play with ourselves. So much fun!

I like this idea. To me it looks like these cases should be hanging on a wall but dont know if there is a way to keep the watches in place so they dont fall out.

Neat design. I leverage pillows to avoid the case back from getting scratched up when on bracelets, but that could also be fixed with a thin piece of leather, fabric etc.

This is a nice design/solution especially if you have any plans to store your watches in a safe… easy to pop one tray out for the week and keep the others secure. I plan to do something similar once I have a collection worth securing 😂

Great point! Not sure that any of my current collection needs to be secured :)

It won't work for me because I prefer to see my watches which let me make the decision of what watch to wear easier and almost subconscious.

But if you could think of a good design for some kind of space saving carousel...

That's a pretty cool design for a watch box.

I love the “collection within a collection“ aspect. I would probably organize by country or by brand if I had multiple watches of the same brand. Great design idea. The only places I’ve sold a watch is eBay and chrono24. I prefer the chrono24 route, but if it’s not a major brand you are probably better off on eBay. Take good quality photos and be honest and descriptive.
