Promotion and a gift

Have been a RN for 32 years and have worked in every environment except surgery. Spent the last seven years in case management, answering to the CFO.

Our previous director stepped down back in March. Swore I would never do management again but our new Chief Revenue Officer impressed me so, and with strong encouragement from my coworkers, I applied for our director position.

After two months as interim, was promoted to Director. Taking over a department with former peers now calling me "boss" has been humbling. With just a single exception, the department has rallied around me.

Never have I loved a job so much! And at 53 years old I am back to working 45-50+ hours/week.

So back in the early summer I had the chance to visit the higher end watch shop in the Mall of America in Minneapolis. Nothing tickled my fancy but they had a BB58 925. Figured why not try it on. Looked at the salesman after I strapped it on, said to him "sh*t. I am in trouble."

He smiled and said, "yeah, I can see that."

But I didn't buy it, despite my wife encouraging me to.

Fast-forward three months and I haven't been able to stop thinking about the watch. So my wife surprised me and handed me the cash and told me to buy one.

Managed to find one at a jeweler four hours away right after it got unpacked. Next day it arrived. Can honestly say that I have never enjoyed a watch this much. Of course the sentimental value is incalculable but the watch itself, objectively, is amazing.

The luster of the silver is beyond anything one sees in stainless. The dial and bezel are perfect matches. Heck, there is nothing I have found to dislike.

Mad props to Tudor and to my wife for this one.
