Lum Tec Vortex D5 Solar

Whew... I was saving this one for the last month when I received the watch back after being serviced.. Allow me to explain... Well, i purchased this watch at the beginning of June.. I bought the watch from eBay for about $250. If you know about this watch, it typically goes for $585 retail from their site. So I was super excited about the deal, as they typically retail for $350 at the lowest in secondary markets.

Well, I received the watch about a week later, and upon opening the package I noticed the watch wasn't ticking.. It's a solar watch, so I thought why not expose it to as much light as possible. So I put it in my window and absolutely nothing, seconds hand didn't even move.. So I reached out to the seller and they let me know they would refund the watch if I want to send it back, OR if I want to contact the manufacturer to get it fixed and they would cover shipping. So given the deal, I got on this watch, I wanted to be sure I got to keep it.

So I called Lum Tec and they said it was still covered under their warranty, as the watch isn't older than 2 years. So I sent it in, and the seller covered my shipping. I was pretty happy this was all being taken care of! I also made sure to update the seller as things progressed.

About a week later I received an email saying my watch was on its way back to me. I was beyond excited, I finally was going to be able to enjoy my watch! So I made sure to update the seller and let them know it was on the way back, and at this point, they ceased all communication with me.. I wasn't too upset as Lum Tec was taking care of the watch.. (So I thought..)

Well, I received the watch back and quickly opened it to get it on the strap and start taking pics and enjoying my piece. Only to realize.. the watch was not ticking again.. So again I started charging it with natural and UV light and still nothing.. Nothing at all. Ok and at this point (my wife can attest) I was absolutely livid and just frustrated beyond what I should have been..

So with as much self-control as possible, I called Lum Tec back to let them know after being serviced it still didn't work.. Bes (the owner of Lum Tec) answered the phone when I called and he heard me out. I made sure to talk respectfully and calmy, and Bes apologized up and down and let me know they ran into an issue themselves. He let me know they purchased battery cells that were improperly labeled and wanted me to send it back to be serviced properly. he then covered the shipping, and the watch was out the next day. Now I updated the seller again, and not a word from them.

About a week later, I received an email saying the watch was on it's way back to me. Only to receive the email before the holiday weekend, stating I would receive my package on Tuesday the 5th, only to see it was expedited and sent to me as quickly as possible. Just in time for the holiday weekend, and when I opened..... It worked!! Alas I had my watch and all was taken care of.. A month later, but nonetheless all good to go and working properly and keeping time accurately. I'm one happy camper wearing since Saturday, and I don't see it coming off any time soon. 

It was a wild ride with this piece and I'm just glad it's finally on my wrist, glowing like an absolute beast 💕
