Montblanc watches… what do you think?

I picked up an 1858 iced sea automatic date from Montblanc recently. I’m very impressed with it. I think it’s on par with my Tudor for sure. What are your thoughts on montblanc?

I am a fan of their Heritage lineup. They are making some nice pieces.

Definitely!

In the main I like some of their watch's. Though I don't have any or plan on owning any. I have got some of their aftershave lotion though 😄

Clean, well-made, shiny watches, as every product they sell. Not a "purist" horology brand but you can't really go wrong with a Montblanc.

I like the new ice watches.  I wasn’t sure I would from pictures but they look great in person.

My handle was “MontblancPapi” for bit, I recently changed it.  But I love Montblanc.   The newer lines (1858, etc.) are phenomenal.  My 1858 small seconds is my go-to office watch.  It keeps time within 5 seconds a day (unreal!).  The Iced Sea is my go-anywhere.  the dial is unreal in person.

I think they are nice, but you know, it’s not my choice what you should buy and enjoy. They do make a good watch, and sit within the Richemont portfolio. Richemont acquired Minerva as well in 2006, so they have aligned Montblanc and Minerva together from 2007, so it’s a little more complicated than usual. The one watch I do regret not buying is a Montblanc: it was a Timewalker GMT Southern Hemisphere; read into that what you will.

Last week, after considering a GMT for some time, I bought a Montblanc 1858 GMT in blue. I had admired it on line for a couple of months but when seeing it in the metal non of the images I have seen do it justice, the coiour of the blue on the dial is stunning. The finishing is excellent and I love the etched caseback.

In a restaraunt last night the waiter asked me what I had on my wrist, OK he was a watch enthusiast but the Montblanc is the first watch I have ever been asked about and complemented on.

I love my 1858 Iced Sea in blue, I have had it for since the summer.  I got it on the bracelet and have the blue strap on order.
