Traska Summiteer 36 Best alternative to the Ranger

I think Traska just made the perfect alternative to the Ranger and Explorer, more to the ranger though. It's antiscratches it's 36mm has the 369 and is all brushed. What do you think?

If what you want is the dial layout, it looks like a good alternative to the Explorer/Ranger.

This is a really good call! I heard this mentioned as  Ranger alternative on a podcast recently?

The only Rolex I would actually buy is the Explorer and I do like the look of the Ranger but I agree this Trasker offers similar specs at a much lower price point yet has great finishing and build quality. A great alternative!

It's definitely a watch I have my eye on though I'd rather get one of the 38.5mm ones they put out last time.

Traska is such a cool brand; easily in my Top 10 out of all microbrands. If only they could ramp up the production eeeever so slightly... 😉

Dare I say I even prefer their Commuter to the mighty Sinn 556i in the "hardened surface coating GADA" category?

The 36,5mm is going to be, for now, a limited run. There's a total of 100 36mm Traska Summiteers (including all colors, so 25 for each color) this next Sunday. If the sale and feedback is a success they may make it into normal production around October.

From what I've learnt from Traska, they will be announcing big news in a couple of months and a new batch of the permanent collection including the 38mm Summiteer and the rest for unlimited preresevation. I hope they will announce a more permanent stock availability but that's only a hope of mine.

My experience with the 38,5 green Summiteer could not have been better. I own a Rolex Explorer as you might know and is my favorite versatile watch, but, when it comes to real hard stuff while going to mountain or other conflicting places I pick the Traska way over the Explorer. The main reason is that in case of damaging or loss, it would not be as worrisome as destroying the Explorer. Also it has a stronger scratch resistance than the Explorer. Of course the movement doesn't really compare, or the finishing, but as a true tool watch for a purpose, it's, in my humble opinion, one of the best options, including the Seiko Alpinist SARB017 I also own.

And the design, while maybe a little bit plain, has a lot of dimensions and grows over time more and more.

Great strong and reliable watch, with awesome legibility that is really growing on me.

Now that they have made the 36mm version following the recommendation of many, me including, this could be even better suited for true adventure and really hope it makes into the permanent collection.

Actually the only problem I have is that to fund the 36mm version, I feel obliged to get because my personal involvement in it, I have to sell the 38,5 green one and don't really want to at this moment :(

Thanks. I believe this brand needs our support. The customer service is excellent and the team behind is great too. After having a really bad experience with another brand, meeting the people at Traska and Lorier has been very refreshing and one of the reasons I like this hobby so much.

I am a fan of 36mm Explorer-style watches and I like the 36mm Summiteer, especially in mint green.  I think the 3-6-9 dial looks better in 36mm due to less negative space than the larger cases.  I own a number of 3-6-9 36mm watches - Smiths Everest, Smiths Silver Jubilee, Smiths Commando and Alpha Explorer 36.  Love all of them but is there is room in my collection for a mint green 36mm Summiteer?  I hear good things about Traska and would like to support them. My Rolex AD is working on getting me a 36mm Explorer.  This is a very fun hobby, but it can get extremely expensive very quickly.
