One watch-One month-Day 26-MyCollectionProject

Day 26- my most prized possession. In 2015 my dad and I looked at watches, Seiko off course, just browsing and checking out, when I saw something that lit me up! It was so beautiful and the specs, I was in love 😍. And then I read the price tag and said “ahh, I will never have things at this price..”, and that was that.

on January 2016, when I was 39 years old, I had a heart attack, the serious and 50% deadly one. My dad got one when he was 40.    I was on a hospital bad, in the cardiac intensive care unit, after a life saving procedure, with all the stuff attached to me, when my father sat on the edge of the bad and said two things- 1st is that I’m a bum and this is why it happened.

The 2nd was him showing me the watch that got me crazy back than, the one I thought was a literally dream to have, and said “this is for your 40th birthday“. I cried. Hard. I am not used to expensive presents, and in that specific situation..

because of the 1st thing he said I started a rehab sports program 3 weeks after the heart attack. I got in strong on exercise, training, gym, home exercise, diet. I mainly ran for a few years and now I focus on swimming. I became a hydrotherapist and an adaptive sports trainer.

the 2nd thing left me with the most prized and valuable material thing I posses. It is a high value watch, on the thousands. But I couldn’t care if it worth 3000 or one buck- there is a bond with this watch, my late father, and me. unbreakble bond.

It’s not the item sometimes, it’s the story that goes with it. A wonderful story buddy 👏🏻👏🏻

I always loved the Seiko Astron line.  That's one great story to have with one great watch! I'm glad you are doing much better, strokes are no joke! I recently bought a treadmill for the same reason. working from home and not taking care of myself kinda got to me in 2020 and I got Pneumonia and had a freak out thinking I got covid and the chess pains were pretty bad that I thought I was also having a stroke.

Since you pulled another meaningful piece I had to take mine out the drawer:

This Guess watch my wife gave me way back I think 2008 when we started dating. I don't wear it anymore but still a meaningful piece. It has a Seiko quartz movement so still runs like a champ.
