Watch discussion: What watch would you like to see a smaller version of

As a small wristed fellow there is a clear limit to how big I can go when it comes to watches, my sweet spot is around 38-39mm with a max L2L of 46mm.

As such I regularly see a watch that I like and then immediately write it off for being too big. One such occasion happened for about half a year ago where I discovered the Bulova Lunar Pilot and subsequently discovered its size 😅 This bummed me out quite a bit as the other option for a fancy moon watch is the Omega Speedmaster Reduced and that is not a watch that is in my budget for years to come.

Now half a year later the Lunar Pilot is still living rent free in my head, and I’ve started hoping that Bulova will release a smaller version so I can finally get that space vibe on my wrist, but alas my hopes are not high. But this also got me wondering if anyone else have had the same experience and what watches the industry should really consider aiming the shrink ray on.

44mm is just bigger than a watch needs to be…

Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.  They only make the smaller 40mm versions in extremely restricted limited editions.

At the cheaper end of town.....a smaller Casio Duro Marlin. I own one and it wears well on me but Casio could make a mint if they did a 38 or 40mm version.

Yeah that would be awesome, i looked at the Duro for my first rugged divers watch, but was again deterred by the size.

And yes, they could definitely sell a lot more if they made a smaller version.

This maybe still too big but Buliva is putting out a 43mm version this year.

Cheers!

I would like Seiko to produce a smaller "Arnie."

The Barakuda may be my favorite watch ever made.

I long for a smaller Luna Pilot like you. 39/41 sort of size. As @jcwatch say's there is a 43 mm to be released soon, but it's a full polish finish and as you point out still too big.

I really love this GS but it definitely feels a smidge large on my 6.25

also, I really like the looks of the new Apple Watch, just not on my wrist

Sometimes, the problem with size is comfort not aesthetics. I can wear a massive G Shock comfortably but find most watches >48mm lug-to-lug just aren't comfortable enough for me to wear regularly.

It really begins to be a problem when the strap goes inwards from the lugs to the wrist. It just feels like the watch isn't seated right on my wrist then. And it can look a little comical running around with a dinner plate stuck to your arm 😉
