My watchmaker has a display of pre-loved and vintage watches. Most of them watches he is selling on commision for his customers. For 6 month or more I have seen this Certina DS2 from the late 60s or early 70s in his display. I must been in there close to a dozen times. A month ago I decided to give an offer. I was informed that the watch needed a service. I modified the offer accordingly and the offer was accepted.
Yesterday I picked it up. Serviced and with a new date wheel. The dial is described as brown. There is definetaly brown tones there but also grey and dark olive. With it’s (of it’s time) slighly oversized C-case and orange seconds hand I think it gives a strong, but still tasteful, vibe of the 70s.

My opinion is that watch design aesthetics peaked from the mid-1950's through to the early 1970's, fell off of a cliff, and only recently have rebounded. This is a simple elegant watch. The color choice was only possible when the glut of stainless and gold tones had run their course. (I have a watch coming that will show you where 1970's design choices go off of rails.)
Excellent addition.
Thanks! Agree, even if the design is a hint of what to come it’s in line. Looking forward to see your next one. You set the stage well👍
It's an absolutely gorgeous piece. Glad your offer was accepted. 🍻 Enjoy it!
