Sad Christmas morning (kind of)

First off this is just me crying out to like minded individuals. Today I woke up to put on my Slava pulse meter. I have been trying to track one down for the last 12 months or so. I found one at the beginning of November. merry Christmas to me I thought. I’ve worn it once since receiving it from a war torn nation. as I took my precious little watch out of the box this morning to begin winding and setting the date in a language I don’t understand. It happened my perfect little red and white foreign watch was not working properly as the date changed. It just kept changing as I was winding. immediately thoughts race through my head. I’ve contacted the seller to see what can be done not expecting much and quite honestly probably not his fault. It was purchased as new old stock and It’s in flawless condition. What do I do? Tear it open myself, and try my hand at finding a solution. Do I try to have it replaced by the seller? Is there anyone in the continental United States or the UK for that matter that works on Russian watches for a reasonable fee after finding out that my dear Christmas watch did not work. I strapped on my old, faithful Hamilton khaki field, mechanical and continued on with my day. Sorry for the long whiny post, but I got nobody else to talk to about this if anyone can help feel free to reach out to me! signed dateless.

It is fair to reach out to the seller. The worst they can do is refuse to assist. After that, there must be professionals in Pittsburgh who can point you in the right direction if the WC community hasn’t already done so. As for going at it yourself, only you know your skill level and risk tolerance.

Sorry this has happened, and that it’s been upsetting. I hope either that you’ll be able to fix the watch, or that you’ll come to terms with the aftermath if you can’t .

Thanks for the reply. Feel like a huge baby bitchin about a watch.

"It just kept changing as I was winding. "

Can you be more specific?

Sorry, there was a little bit of wind that went along with that rant last night. The date wheel seems to be slipping. As I try to set a time, the date wheel seems to slip and never in any uniform pattern. The minute hand seems a little off kilter. Also, when I receive the watch, the steps dial, seemed a bit off, but due to its age, thought nothing of it at the time I’ve done some modeling in the past, however, not too certain I want to mess with this guy, I hope that is more specific. Thanks for reaching out.

The seller just contacted me and said he was willing to service the watch at no cost just pay shipping fees. I think I just jumped over the moon.
