Over the years Joma has been discussed on various watch sites and the experiences are a mixed bag. I have had a couple OK dealings a few years ago but my most recent experiences (2) have been bad enough for me to stay away from now on. One piece of advice is that you should never order anything unless they say that it's "In Stock and ready to ship". If it says "Ships in x amount of days it usually means they don't have the watch in stock and will ship it when, and if, they can source it.

Never used Jomashop myself but I would never attempt to buy an expensive watch outside of a boutique, AD or a very trusted dealer. If you're buying a piece that's not very much in demand and is highly available in most ADs, there's a very high chance you can pick up the watch near or matching the discounted rate that's seen in discount stores like jomashop. It's a great tool for that but otherwise I'd be very cautious.

Purchased several things over the years, mostly gift watches and pens. Never had an issue.

I bought a Hamilton Khaki Field from them in 2019. No issues, came with box, papers, full kit. For a very significant purchase, I would probably consider a different route.

·

Only bought one piece from them. It went smoothly. Complete set just without the manufacturer's warranty though. No complaints with the watch itself. I could've been lucky!

·

I bought from them on two occasions and didn't experience problems with them.

I bought from them in 2019. The watch itself was alright. No warranty though. They don't respond to emails at all, so any claim they made about service or returns was pretty much false.

Even if I opted out, they were happy to fill my inbox with advertisements. Sometimes two a day, for about a year.

For gray market, I would rather go on eBay or Chrono24. Where communications are monitored, and advertisements limited. Where in a worst case scenario, where you never get the watch, you don't lose the money.

I’ve bought plenty of things from Jomashop over the years and they are definitely a trustworthy business with some great deals.

Their customer service can leave a little to be desired at times though. I had one particularly bad experience last year where they sent me the wrong item and it dragged on for weeks trying to get an answer from them.

I’ve bought other items since without issue, so I can look past that 1 bad experience.

no issues to date…4 or 5 watches

I recently bought a quartz Citizen from them as a gift for someone else. Worked well, shipping was fine. Didn't have any issues. However, I'm not very partial to buying things online in case something goes wrong - I feel like I'd just absorb the cost if refunds and replacements become too much of a hassle.

Buying a quartz watch or cheap automatic, go for it. Anything more expensive? That's up to your discretion.

I bought a Cetina watch from them, no issues, but because the watch is working well I don't know about how they manage the warranty 🙄

·

I bought a $416 automatic off Jomashop, it arrived as expected.

·

Never had any issues with them at all.

·

I am curious as to what we're you expecting. To me it was just like shopping on Amazon and as long as it shipped promptly and in good condition I was fine. It did dissapoint me on modifying or canceling orders as I didn't find it as easy as Amazon.

I understand your point. Unfortunately the price to pay for this experience is abusive in my country. For example, something as simple as a 54 usd Casio G Shock is sold for 185 usd at my Casio AD (great service yes). If I import it directly after import taxes and shipping it ends costing me around 95 usd. So in cases like that I will sacrifice the experience.

Quite obviously, everyone has their definition of the 'buying experience' they desire. First, I've bought from Joma and never had a problem. Second, they sell you a watch and they deliver it. Note: I only buy from what they have in stock. With that, I'm very satisfied. Given a simple choice, I'll take the 'cut & dried' approach over fancy boutique retail store 99% of the time. And yes, I've saved a lot doing it this way.
