RZE Valour 38, Whistler White Review

I received this watch a few days ago. I have been wearing it non-stop since its arrival.

I had watched all the YT reviews and previews before committing to the Kickstarter campaign, and most of what was said about this watch holds true.

There are a few things that stand out about this watch.

As promised in the campaign, the watch is very light and relatively thin, and wears well due to this.

This next point will be subjective to me, and will depend on your own personal tastes, but the white dial on the version I chose, is a strap monster. Black, Blue, Orange, Grey, Khaki, and Camo all look good with this watch.

While the watch has an Ultra-hex coating from RZE, (I have not scratched it) I have already put a dent in the bezel near the 6 marker. (While working on the tractor in the photo) It can't be seen in photos. But it catches the light occasionally and I can see it. ( I bought this watch with the intention of using it hard, so I'm not sad about it though)

The SII NH38A in this copy seems to be running really well. It will need more time to settle as it ages over the first month or so, but it's currently running at +3 spd. Though the rotor seems a little loud when in a quiet room.

The flat sapphire crystal does seem really nice. The AR works, as the dial is legible in all but the worst situations, and I like it.

The lume is decent. I can read it at 5am, but it is on the faint side. The color of the lume is a bit on the tan/fauxtina side, and that seems exaggerated by the white dial, I imagine on the other dial colors it will look less obvious, this may bother some, but for me it works well with the overall theme of the watch.

The hands are a really dark grey that looks black most of the time, and they have a faint texture to them. They are very legible in all but the darkest situations.

Overall, I will be keeping this watch. I like it. It is comfortable, easy to read at a glance, and I plan to use it as a do-all watch. This is all accentuated by the price, this watch has a great price-to-spec ratio.

That’s a good looking watch. I respect a no nonsense field watch, this has been my beater for going on 4 years.

Great looking Vaer!

I tend to like the field watch genre, and I like the Vaer watches too, I have the quartz version of yours from about the same time period. I never really wore it that much though, and it will probably be on the chopping block soon. But, the new "tactical" (hate that they called it that) model, that I love. I'll do a review of it soon.

Got to get the tactical 'bros' to open up their wallets, man. Just lucky Vaer didn't laser etch a 'Molon Labe' for extra tactical points. 😎

Whats your wrist size? Looks real good on the nato.

Great Review and super clean watch. Kind of cool to see a field watch actually doing work

I haven't really measured it exactly, but measured it once a few years ago, with a fabric tape, and it was about 6.75".

I have a hard time making the wrist shots look like what I see in person. The photos above seem to make the watch look bigger than it looks in person on my wrist.

The faceting on the lugs is not for me but does keep it from looking too generic. Meanwhile the sterile dial truly elevates it and I'm glad someone finally realizes that white is the most versatile dial color.

@UtahExplorer still enjoying it a month or so in? I've just discovered these and have been thinking about the yellow dial version. I don't have a "field watch" currently, and wouldn't mind giving my skx007 a bit of a break from that role!

@yarko_on_the_go  I actually still love it. It's been nice to throw on when I want a easy to read, durable watch. Some days when I have something not fit for farm work on, I switch to this, and it's great. It's showing a little bit more wear and tear, but not much, the coating seems to be doing the job.
