hey guys how do you do? i hope you guys doing well. did you know about rolex daytona? it is an expensive automatic chronograph which produced by rolex. i can say it is one of the iconic design in chronograph genre, but not everybody got the ability or resources to buy one. then last year seiko released their new speedtimer ssc813 from the prospex line which looks more daytona than speedtimer itself, weird. but its cool to have an affordable option, with saphire crystal, solar quartz movement, etc with 675$ pricetag. that looks like a good deal comparing to rolex daytona price. but if you're broke (like me) and still dont want to spent 675$ then congratulations there still an affordable alternative to that seiko new speedtimer, for just 240$.
introducing seiko spirit sbtr027 chronograph. a different variant from ssc813, without solar movement, and prospex logo. actually this is my friend watch, he bought it for his wedding watch (as you can see from my previous post) and im borrowed it for a few days just to reviewed it. there are not many info about this watch, but it is adversited as "jdm" seiko, so im just wondering if there any different in quality than the "international" seiko. so lets get started
case and bezel:
case is 316 stainless steel 39mm something lets make it 40mm. diameter is good in my opinion, it would fit many wrist without problem. case design pretty much looks like a rolex daytona, with tachymeter on the bezel. i would say they coated the bezel with black chrome finishes. case finishes consist of brushed and polished on the outer bezel, build quality is decent enough for me
dial and hand:
this particular unit got grey-blue-ish sunburst dial, with black subdial with no prospex logo 😂. the second hand are on one of the subdial, the chronograph hand sit on the main dial. overall i can say its a good looking watch, but the problem for me are on the date window positioned oddly at 4,5 minute. also the lumed on the hand and the indices are very poor, it is very small and i would say it is unusable
movement:
the main difference between sbtr027 and ssc813 are on the movement. while sbtr027 used quartz 8t63 caliber, the ssc813 used v192 solar. for a newbie collector like me the different is just on the solar feature and the case thickness (sbtr027 is 11,6mm while the ssc813 is 13,3mm)
crystal:
equipped with flat hardlex crystal as always
wr and crown:
100m water resistant with screw caseback but no screw down crown. i guess it is appropriate since its a chronograph watch
bracelet and clasp:
solid link bracelet with brushed finishes and slighty polished on the inside, the endlink are still hollow. i must say im impressed with bracelet quality, brushed finishes feel soft and chamfered nicely. it is nicer than other seiko bracelet from my experience (samurai and sea urchin). deployant clasp is okay i guess, clasp design is so small. from the pict it is the same model as from the ssc183
conclussion:
overall i would say its a great alternative piece for ssc183. specs arent impresive but for money you spent i guess it is still nice. the negative for me its just the lume and the oddly positioned date window. if you looking for the first chronograph watch with affordable price i'll say go for it. thx for reading

Absolutely love this color. Well done and great review.
Man, that is a really good looking watch! Though, I don't know if it's because it's a good looking watch, or if it's just because your photography really flatters it!
Nice watch and great pictures. A well made chrono for tight budgets.

thx for reading.hope this review would help some of us considering to buy their first chronograph 👍👍
Nice addition! better than a lousy Daytona. Great pix as well
Contrarian me - I love the 4:30 ‘hidden‘ date! It doesn’t mess up symmetry but I NEED a date window (I do shift work and record time and date in every entry, at all hours)
Also, love the Prospex stylized Pand S design. too bad on that.

thx man, i guess im more into beauty than function 😂. to this day i still dont know how to measure time on chronograph, not to mention that tachymeter

Lol. You laugh, but I'd totally carry that.
Not me dropping 700$ on a limited edition speedtimer (ssc909p1) with the same dial color scheme just to find out this watch exists
