Engagement watch, wedding watch, bla bla bla

Well hello there, im just finish watching about effing time podcast on the milestone watch episode. i guess its nice to achieve the grail and wearing it at the special event of our life (in this case adrian and his explorer) like engagement or wedding. now back to the reality, i got wedding coming up at march and of course i want to wear my grail to this important event which is jlc reverso. but looking at my bank account and bills to pay it just doesnt add up. it would be wise to prioritize more important needs than this gentleman ego right?

so i got an idea to bought some "affordable" alternative to the reverso which is 200$ rotary cambridge. i ask my cousin who lived at usa to bought the watch and gave it to my mother while she goes visited him there. long story short the watch didnt came due to my cousin fault (he put wrong adress on the shipping) 😭😭. so the "affordable" alternative isnt working as well and it looks like the universe just hate me lol.

now the engagement and what you called pre wedding photo session is come so i gotta wear what i already have. the pre wedding photographer discuss the theme of the photo with us. and we decided to wear 2 outfit, one is casual the other is classic mix with minimalist background. so i decided to dress up my airman with new brown strap for the casual theme and laco aachen for the classic theme, and i think those two would perfect for this photo session.

looking at my "enthusiasm" with watches my fiancee want to wear some more appropriate watch to this photo session. its funny, as she usually dont give a sh*t about watches like i do. so she wants my help to decided what she would wear, actually his father got some watch collection with box that look like this.

Image

smartwatch nah, versage watch no, tissot too big, how about this movado museum? well i think it would works, i mean the size is about right and i love the design simpicity and colour.

and this is some of the photo session result.

also i ask the photographer to took some wristshot (like we all do😂)

yeah its not a grail or something expensive but i think it looks good on the theme and outfit. and for my grail? i better achieved it next time, probably in wedding anniversary or else. wish me luck. and how about you guys? what watch did you wear on the engagement or your wedding? is it a grail? is it a watch from your current collection? did you still have the pict? let share some on the comment section, cheers🍻

Ok, so much to unpack here... I am a photographer and I will refrain from commenting on the pictures. Which is really, really hard for me. Almost impossible. Near undo-able...

Congrats on the wedding! You guys look lovely, although you both look very serious for this festive occasion! (See? I told you; I can't help myself, sorry...)

As for the watch, in the end it really does not matter! When you look back on that day, hopefully you're not thinking 'damn, I wished I wore that watch...' And if you do, I hereby give permission to your wife to be to slap you in the face and yell 'get a grip'! You know what? I'm going to say it; don't wear a watch. Just let time slide by that day and enjoy it without Chronos looking over your shoulder. Give yourself a day off.

You're welcome.

Congrats! 🎉

Don't worry too much over the watch, just enjoy the experience.

Both the Airman or the Laco would make a great watch for the wedding, just pick one and don't look back and worry about it.

Again, Congratulations! 👏🎉

·

Congratulations and beautiful pictures! Out of curiosity, did the photographer take wrist pics specifically or did you crop these from other shots. If your soon to be wife is already this supportive and potentially interested in your hobby to think about watches and maybe even wrist shots of watches in your wedding pics, you are definitely in luck.

Thx for the wishes, i hope she support me and this little hobby as long as i didnt spent too much money. Actually i ask the photographer to do wristshot, and i think its terrible shot lol there is too much glare at the crystal. But i managed to edit the dial colour a little before posting it here

Thx my friend, i guess im gonna wear this airman in the wedding also

·

Congratulations, and remember Rule #2! 🍻

2. It is easier to beg forgiveness than to seek permission. 😜

·

Congrats, man!

You know, it's funny, but it took me forever to get married, have kids, and buy a house, because doing so seemed so daunting financially. And, yet, once I did so, something flipped in my brain. I was suddenly on the hook to feed and cloth these children, and provide a roof over my family's head. As a result, I do think it caused me to really hunker down and become much more responsible financially and career-wise. So much so that now I can enjoy the watch hobby.

The Reverso may be out of reach right now, but it'll come!

·

I wish you a wonderful wedding in March!! Congratulations in advanced! 💍 ♥ I just want to say that I think the Glycine Airman matched with the Movado Museum is a great photo. A masculine, military GMT with a refined and progressive timepiece. 👌

·

First of all, here's to yer very good health!

And, I'll just add that the Glycine Airman is a fantastic choice!

Ok I read the whole thing … oh man the Vario reverso would have been cool aternative… but i think what you’re wearing is pretty awesome already … for me I wore my engagement watch that my wife bought me it’s my tag Hauer chrono quartz…it is a special watch for me because of that, so now your airman is a special watch for you now too…as much as we would like the “special” watch like the reverso but I think what makes a watch much more special is the event and to me no matter the type of watch you wear it will be awesome because you wore and will remember it because of the event… 🍻🎉… congrats again young fellow!

thx for reading it later haha, last time i checked they only have the red version which isnt my favourite. i think they still produced vario versa in small number too bad

Beautiful couple, and beautiful pictures. I have no idea what watch I wore to my own wedding, but the only two I had were a Tag and a Movado, and the Movado is dressier, so I’ll bet I went with the Movado just as you two did. Doesn’t even matter. Just grateful 25 years later that I married the right girl, and was surrounded by all the only people who matter for one of the very few times in my life.

Wishing you a lifetime of happiness and health.

First and foremost, congratulations! The wedding means more than any watch could.

I have a few friends who's wives bought them Rolexes as a wedding gift. One got a Sub, the other got a DayDate. It put the idea in my wife's head to get me a watch. We did not have much money as we were paying off debt and student loans. I ended up selling my motorcycle to get my wife a Mikimoto pearl bracelet. She got me a Movado watch.

Is it my grail watch? No. But it's a great looking watch, and I love wearing it because it represents the most important day of my life. It will always be part of my collection.

A few years later, many friends are buying large homes which they can't afford to furnish. They're already hiring contractors to put on additions and complete renovations. My wife and I bought a smaller and more manageable home and completed the renovations on our own. I'm planning to pay off our mortgage within the next five years, which will be seven years from the date we purchased the house.

Our friends own newer luxury cars which they've financed. I'll admit that my wife and I do own 4 BMWs (that's my preferred brand), but we purchase used cars free and clear and I fix them up myself. Two of our older BMWs have also appreciated significantly in value since I bought them.

My point is, sometimes you need to choose your priorities. While I love watches as much as anyone else on this site, there are much greater priorities in life.

Not exactly, but similar!

Not pictured during my engagement but the Armani AR2448 was my wife's gift to me, and what I was wearing at the time.

For my wedding I did not wear a watch, since it's proper not to wear one with a tux. 😅

·

Big congratulation to both of you🎉

Thx for the advice, im totally agree with you, no need to rush. Its better to know our limit and life peacefully than enforce ourself to bought a luxury item. While we are talking about movado museum i think it is surpass omega speedmaster in terms of title while speedmaster is a watch that go to the moom, the museum is the watch with the moon on the dial right? 😁
