Matching your watch to you clothes?

I don't usually try to match my watch perfectly to what I'm wearing. I check the weather, think about what activities I have planned for the day, and maybe my general level of attire (formal, casual, etc.) when I pick my watch for the day.

That said, today I grabbed my Farer Lander IV and picked out this combo. Made me happier than it probably should have.

So what do you do? Carefully coordinate watch to outfit? Wear whatever? Do you think about matching colors or styles? Curious to hear.

Nice watch dude! Never heard of farer watches.

I personally don't match my clothes with my watches. I just pick a random watch from my box and wear it the whole day. Sometimes I'll pick the same watch the next day or I'll pick a different watch the next day instead depends on the mood

·

Without looking down, I usually can't even remember what shirt I'm wearing on a given day (I just looked down and saw that my t-shirt features an anthropomorphized gameboy being chased by a man in a suit). Does that match with a Black Bay 58? It's likely that I've matched something with my watch by accident at some point.

·

I generally do not pick a watch to match my outfit. I pretty much do what Dan said.

·

As I spend the majority of my time at work, nothing I own goes with orange 🤣

Call me nerdy but I always match my shoes, socks, shirt and watch. Sometimes this even causes clothes/watch/shoe changes to get it right.  Life is so difficult.

·

I bought a blue Tissot V8 chrono to go with blue V8 Jag. Love them both.

·

I don't necessarily match my clothes with my watches in terms of colours (though sometimes I do), but more the vibe/style of what I'm wearing. E.g. I'll wear my Seiko Tank when I'm in sort of business casual/casual Friday sort of outfit or my Timex Navi Worldtimer on a Nato when I'm in shorts and a t-shirt. Like you I also do consider activities (water resistance, likelihood of scratching, etc.), but since I'm fairly boring it's less of an issue.

·

Such a beautiful piece. 😍 That piece can wear with any wardrobe. Saving up for one soon.

To your question, depends on the activity I will do. If it's a casual activity, any in my collection will do, except the dress watch. But when wearing my business suits, I try to match the dial color with the color of my shirt or suit.

Now that’s a summer watch! Looking good!

Farer is such a good brand. Really nice people.

I definitely match my watch to my outfit (never the other way round) or what I’m doing. Just like to be well presented

·

I generally avoid truly colored dials, but that's not to say that color coordination (more complement than tru matching, usually) is not a large factor in selection. Of course this game is often easier and cheaper to play with bands and straps.

·

Socks and Watches, used To have colorful watches and socks but now I go with all black ALl tHE TIME and socks now too 😢…

1WC 💪

The only time I try to match watch and attire is when I wear a stainless steel watch on a steel bracelet.

When I wear that combo I wear these

Tbh this is why I buy black or white dials , as they go with everything.

I have yet to decide what if any colour watches I want , although the new Sin 535 pastel colours I an very tempted by.

You should check Farer out. British company & design, Swiss made. Very well made and finished, and they're known for playing with color in ways that blend classic styling with a bit of fun and funky color.

I tend to pick out my watch the night before (so it's set and ready in the morning) with no thought of what clothes I'll be wearing... But sometimes I pick out clothes that go with the pre-selected watch 🙂

I don't own a bb58 (but do daydream about one every now and again). But I feel like one of it's charms is that it kind of goes with everything - casual to dressy. So you're (perhaps unintentionally) all set 😉

Enjoy it!

Interestingly, I have several watches with orange accents. There's my Farer:

This Hemel Sea League (Sea Dart) has similar coloring - with a pop of orange on the second hand, but more robust:

Or this SWC Bunker in titanium:

So you know, doable 😁.

But really liking that Sinn! It'll basically go with anything!

Embrace your nerdery! If it makes you happy, go for it!

Makes perfect sense! But would you get a bronze set to go with a bronze watch? Or, if you're feeling extra fancy, would you get a gold set to match a gold watch? 😜

That approach works! I'm not always so careful. Often I just throw on clothes and Don't consider if they'll compliment the watch. Sometimes it does. Especially if I'm working with a more neutral watch.

Very nice! Lookin'good. Thanks!

·

Just adding my opinion. As I feel like the watch is very much part of the outfit and the way I think about what I am going to do and if the watch is going to be appropriate for the activity I think about the outfit.

To SUM UP: I will quickly check in the morning if the watch doesn't screw up the look

Glad to hear I'm not the only weirdo that obsesses over matching outfits with straps/watches. 😀

I wear what will handle the day...  work?..  the Fossil. hanging with buds while rolling dice? my new Vincero. special day with family..?  probably my black Boluva. I don't have super special watches like most of ya, so clothes/watch coordination is not really important. if i had a ton more, I might (but probably still wear the Fossil to work).

Oh, thank you; it's quite minuscule, but I love wearing it, and lucked out acquiring it.
