I told them I didn’t want them to ship it to the authenticator and they did it anyway! 😡

I can understand if it was a Rolex, Omega Breitling, Tudor Cartier or something that’s faked often. But this is a brand new in the box with tags and papers Ball Hydrocarbon chronograph. Nobody fakes these. Too expensive to make a credible copy for what they can get back. Now I’m gonna have to wait an extra week. I don’t need somebody to authenticate it, I can authenticate it myself!

Freaking pissed!

Authentication protects the seller too.

But yeah, I doubt they have a Ball expert anyhow. Seems like an exercise in futility

Why do you think I’m so cheesed off?

If the item was listed (not purchased) for $2k or more, Authentication is automatic. With some exceptions such as modified watches or international sales.

·

Another way to get money out of you!

·

You’re missing many points.

If I was selling - I would send to the Authenticator regardless. What if I sent straight to the buyer and they pretend the box is empty and ask for a refund?

Does the eBay process not force the seller to send to the Authenticator? Is the buyers address hidden?

The Authenticator does not just authenticate the watch, they check the condition matches the description.

Isn’t the turn around time a few days. Does it really matter to you that much?

It's only a week 🤯

·

Sadly that’s the beauty of eBay…. They never do what they should 🤣

·

I get the frustration of having to wait longer, I’ve bought 2 microbrand watches and had to wait months.

However in this case I would rather wait that few extra days because eBay will not just authenticate but it gives you the assurances that your getting the watch as it was sold and not a box with a heavy stone in it or the watch but in a bad condition.

I think it’s a necessity when purchasing on eBay for a lot of money!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that jazz

I get it now nonetheless……..yeah…..I wanted my new watch (fix).

Maybe they have a guy who inspects Balls all day, lol

They don't have a choice though to be fair.

They don't have a choice though to be fair.

And just to add, they turned around something I sold recently in a few hours and it was with the buyer just over 48 hours after leaving my house.

·

How did you make them an offer on that platform ?
