My eBay find arrived Serica WWW 38mm WMB

Well it arrived and I must say it's a great little field watch which reminds of the field watches of old.

I've not done an accuracy test at all but it seems to be running +6 seconds give or take a few seconds here or there. This doesn't concern me too much, I'm more about the aesthetics of the watch and not it's abilities to be deadly accurate, being an ETA it could easily be regulated by my watch guy. The screw down crown action is spot on, latching on every time with ease, the hand winding experience is buttery smooth and the power reserve is around 40hrs as far as I can tell.

The plexi crystal or whatever it is seems to be unscathed and scratch free, the case is in great condition, almost as though the watch was barely worn, no scratches on the lugs from strap changes, no hit's on the case from bumps into hand rails or door knobs.

Very legible at a glance with the hands they used in this model agains't the creamy coloured dial and the printing of the Arabic numerals is crisp and easy to read with the seconds and minute hands reaching right out to the rail track printed on the outer edge. This makes setting the time easy and accurate which pleases my OCD.

It's a little strap monster, although finding a suitable bracelet to match it's vintage style might prove a little difficult, so far my favourite is the CNS maroon 2 piece suede leather strap.

Will it be a keeper, only time will tell. I had my collection down to 6 with some vintage pieces and I was happy, but this was such a bargain it was hard to resist.

Absolutely cracker of a watch, congratulations. I did the same same thing with mine on eBay, first thing I did was throw it on a timegraphed, seemed to be around 3 seconds fast for me. Did you get the Bonklip with it? I did not particularly care for it and replaced it with a field style strap.

Unfortunately it didn't come with the Bonklip bracelet, I think at the time of this models release it wasn't on offer. I did think to purchase it separately, but given the price of the bracelet I may just give it a miss and stick with the vast array of straps I already own.

The accuracy so far seems to be much along the lines with your own, +4 seconds a day roughly. I really need to acquire a time grapher, you would think after 20 odd years of collecting I would have one already, but every time I go to purchase one, I always think, I could buy some really nice straps for that cash or a G-Shock 🤣

It's a great little watch and I can see myself hanging onto it for a while, if not indefinitely. I was after a hand wound field watch for a while now and so when it popped up on eBay and the owner lives in Australia and was willing to take a substantial chunk of the asking price, how could I resist.

Thank you Greg 🙏

As I'm a renowned serial flipper, I have my core collection of 6 watches that I will never sell, well for now, but these watches that pop up from time to time and I impulse buy don't tend to stand the test of time in my collection and get sold on to fund other watches.

If Max ever gives us members the option to sell watches on WC this along with others I impulse buy could find their way onto WC. I would rather sell them to honest and true collectors of watches at a loss than put them on eBay, pay a ridiculous amount of fees, run the risk of being scammed, fools asking for a refund because they have buyers remorse, no thanks 🤬

But for now I'm just going to enjoy this little watch, it really is a beauty 💯

Tony, looks awesome!  Glad you are feeling better.  Quick question, why limit yourself to only six?  I have about 70 now.  lol.  Create a little museum.

Hi mate, I was much like yourself not so long ago, I had a collection of around 150 or so watches, but was never happy. And so I started to sell and trade watches until I got down to around 50, still not happy I got down to 25. Then the whole pandemic hit and we forced in doors and no social contact only work, which didn’t change as I’m what our government considers a front line worker, so off to work I went. I did my usual online scanning and searching for anything interesting and bought a few then sold a few, but all the time just wearing one or two of my collection. It was probably then I realised that having a lot of watches, for me that is, didn’t make me happy, but having certain watches did. I came to the conclusion that if I wear a different watch nearly every day and one for 2 days I really only need 6.
If I get the Tudor BB36 and the Omega AT 38 I could even reduce my collection down to 4, as I would definitely keep one if not both of my Sinn’s.

Anyway buddy, thanks for the well wishes and I hope your doing great as well 🙏🏻
