Next level of this addiction?

Update, I'm going to hold off on this purchase.  Thanks for all the great advice.

Hi Folks,

So as some know, I'm a Timex only collector.  My current collection sits at 60 Timex pieces.  I love the brand and the fun nature and the fact that the price point is so low, it's easy to buy a watch a week.  Now, something is happening, I have my eye on a watch that I will call my splurge watch.  I called the Botique in NYC (where I live) and they have one waiting for me.  Should I pull the trigger?

Here is the watch below.  Just love the look of this watch, but significantly higher than my beloved Timex.

Wow! That is a serious step up in tiers! If you have it in your budget and it is the watch you want, I would say go for it! I have no personal experience with Tudor, but most reviews and opinions seem to be that Tudor is an excellent brand producing a quality watch. It is the choice between the bronze BB and another 50-100 Timex watches. 😂

I passed up the opportunity when the call came in from my boutique.

I regretted it. It was a watch I liked when I tried it on. Even if I didn’t liked the way the bronze would patina, then I could always get my money back on it - effectively wearing it for free or very close to

OMG!! Yes!! Also if they have another one I will drive down to NY with you and pick myself one up!! Been thinking about this for a while as a birthday gift to myself… then again I buy myself gifts almost every week 😉😁!!

The advice we always give to our fellow addicts:

I’m not a fan of bronze due to the patination, but if you love it, and have the funds, go for it.  I picked up a BB GMT for my 35th and have no regrets.  That said, if you get it, be warned…your poor Timexes may never see any serious wrist time again!

I know, I'm a little worried about that.  I guess I will give them away over time.  I see their our two camps as far as the patina, I happen to love that.  Thanks for weighing in.

I will make my decision soon.  Not 100% positive.  Thanks fr all the advice and encouragement.

·

look forward to seeing the pics when you buy it :)

·

I think if you can buy it and you like it you should get it. If you buy more non Timex pieces will you change your name? That’s the only negative I can see.

·

1,000 times yes. I have the big brother, the 43mm BBB (wearing it today actually) and I simply adore this watch. It’s beautiful, robust, crazy accurate, and I personally love the patina. It’s not as severe as other bronzes. I’ve had mine for a year and I still think the patina is subtle.  And of all my watches, this one has been what I’d call the sleeper hit in that I feel like I love it more each time I wear it.  If the 58 had the same slate color combination I’d have one already.

I recommend you get their textile strap as well. The quality is out of this world.  Here is my 43mm BBB (photo taken this morning):

It's not a definite, so please don't be disappointed it if I don't.  lmao!

·

Yeah, when I traded in my Yugo CV for my new Supra, I was at first a little guilty but ultimately glad I pulled the trigger 😉

·

Bronze is not for me. I know people love how they change with age and the patina makes each watch unique. But I like the way it looks today and don't want that to change.

·

I'm not a Tudor fan, or a bronze fan, but if it's your jam, go for it.

·

YES! 😎

·

Oh man, maybe that's a sign.  lol

·

Awesome!  Sometimes the Timex from certain era look like a completely different brand.  Do love it.  I have a couple of old stock from that era and it is so much different then today.  I also have a few vintage pieces from the 60s that are still running great.

·

You got a boutique to hold one for you?

Run, don't walk!

·

When it comes to most things for me these days, if I don’t say “hell yes I want that,” I don’t buy it or do it.

Does that Tudor make you say “hell yes?” If it doesn’t, that’s probably a sign.

You have our blessings to rename your account TimexTudorBadger 👌

Yeah, I thought that was a little odd, especially since they don't even know me and she called me twice.

·

100% yes!

Holdout for the Timex Bronze automatic on bronze bracelet!  Don’t be a Timex traitor!

Or … maybe start new collection of 60 Tudors!  😀

60 Tudors will have to come with a divorce lawyer

Do you have a bronze watch in your current collection?  I've found bronze watches to be a bit of a divisive beast in this community. Some swear by them and others despise them.  I love their warm color (its why I absolutely love A Lange's honey gold even though I can never afford the damn thing) but can't seem to get over the weird skin feel they develop overtime if you let it patinate. Like the texture feels like its become poorly polished or rough. Of course that all disappears the moment you clean the watch properly so I suspect that some of the people that like bronze watches are the type of people to regularly clean up their watches regardless

I love mine!  No regrets at all.

The only Bronze I have is a Vostok but it has a leather band.  I do like the way that aged, but thanks for the info, that's good to know.

Each person have their own watch strategy.  But seriously it's your money, so don't let us spoil that satisfaction you would feel by buying it.  That bronze BB58 definitely has the qualities of a grail watch.

Nothing wrong with choosing quality over quantity.
