1969 Rolex datejust model 1603 calibre 1570

I've inherited this watch from my late uncle and it needs a service badly but after I do that can I put this watch on a watch winder?  Any info would be great.  Thanks 🍻

No need to put it on a winder.  If you don't mind setting the date and time if its power reserve runs out, then no point in having the movement continually running.

Just make sure to never use the "quickset date" function between 10pm and 2am, and you're all good.

Sorry to hear about your loss. That is a nice watch and a big part of watches are passing them down. As for the question @HotWatchChick69 got it.

Maybe I got my calibre wrong but this one doesn't have quick set date.   I won't be wearing this as a daily so having to set the date could get long that's why I was thinking about putting it in my watch winder.

Oof!  You're right!  That does require quite a bit of winding to change the date!

Yes...  a watch winder would be nice!

Oh, setting the date is such a chore. So many days to pass through. We need to invent a machine that will constantly wear the parts of our watch when we are not wearing it so that it needs a service more frequently. How else are we going to converse with those nice people at Rolex.

Seriously, let an old watch rest every now and then.

What I didn't know, because I'm a nube to watch winders, is that they run all the time, which they don't. Mine turns a little bit a few times a day, so nothing is overwound, although modern watches have safeties to prevent that from happening. A winder would be great to have if you want to "set it and forget it."

Wear it Once a month!

Wear it every day - simples.

 Lovely watch!

Very nice perfect birth year and you know it will sell if you wanted too. Just keep it as honor, respect and remembrance.
