Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.”- Oscar Wilde.

Should we really be that concerned with Chinese knockoffs? It seems the Chinese will even copy something very Chinese. On the other hand, we can't use the old adage "It is what it is" anymore. Obviously, it isn't exactly what it purports to be.

The real question: Are cheap Chinese knockoffs cool or no?

Those panda dogs are hilarious. 😆

I personally don’t care for knockoffs. They’re not for me.

So there are two key points.

1) Who cares what other people wear? If someone wants to wear a 99% copy of a Sub, and pretend they're a baller, good for them.

2) People who know and care know... You can't fake wealth around people who are wealthy. You might borrow wealth, but you can't fake it. A Rolex is still quite clearly a Rolex, and no Pagani will fool anyone who knows the difference.

I guess the third point is; Why do you care what other people choose to wear? They aren't taking away from your special watch, and spending more doesn't make your watch worth less...

Edit: to be clear, I love @TimeJunkie's posts, and this is not directed at him, more of a comment in general.

Panda dogs?

Just when you think the world has gone mental enough, there are panda dogs.Image

I don't mind them. I think it's great that people of all situations get to enjoy their favorite design with a decent watch that they can afford.

I don't imagine anyone is trying to pretend their Pagani or San Martin is a thousand dollars Rolex. In fact, they would probably tell you right away it's not a Rolex and what a great value watch it is by comparison.

Most of the complaints seem to come from wealthy snobs upset that the pleb is allowed to wear a watch that ressembles their status symbol and blurs the lines at a distance.

Enjoy what you have. Live and let live.

So we went all the way to Chengdu, stood in huge throngs of people in the boiling heat, got rushed through the panda pavilions by guards screaming at everyone to stay quiet, and all we saw were dogs?

Well, they fooled me. Lesson learned. I’m gonna go buy a fake Rolex RIGHT NOW!

I do love those painted dogs though 🤣

I don't mind people wearing fakes, my concern it's people being scammed, as we know nowadays copys can be very difficult to be identified as such.
