Happy or Disappointed?? 2024 New Rolex Releases

Looking at yesterday’s new Rolex releases, my first impression is, “Jewelry>Watch.”

It is clear Rolex is directionally positioning itself in recent days from the tool end of watches to the luxury and premium direction to bring the brand to another level.

However, I feel it is too drastically done, and giving me the impression close to Jacob and Co, where the jewels and premium materials over power the watch, to an extent questioning, is this going over the edge?

However, I do see some sense of balancing between watch and jewelry, within this years line up, with the new GMT release, yet still on a jubilee.

I wish they’d be releases like a clear tool watch in the line up, like an Explorer2 in 39etc as they did for the Explorer1 to meet wrists of all sizes,

And still telling the watch community that they are still having one foot to meet the needs of enthusiasts.

Were you excited about the new 2024 releases from Rolex? Please let me hear in the comments below.

I'm not much of a Rolex fan at the best of times, and these releases do nothing to change that.

Your comment about jewellery is spot-on, and it's clear that Rolex is positioning itself at the bougie drip end of the market. Some might say they've been there for years and this is just an acknowledgement of that.

I guess that's where the money is though, even if the longer-term brand risk is probably quite high.

Honestly happier with the Tudor releases than Rolex this year. Ben Clymer said he’d be happy if Rolex released no new pieces this year. I think I concur.

Totally neutral. I have the Rolex I want and don't feel any sort of way. I like the Ti Yachtmaster from last year but I have no expectations.

Rolex like Apple don't have to innovate or change to have piles of money coming in. No one can touch Rolex on their popularity not even Patek or AP.

Very true👍😀

What releases? 🤷

Why would they come out with a new watch when they can't meet demand for what is in the catalog? They just can't win can they...

These are "releases" so they don't have completely empty exhibition cases. They basically released nothing and discontinued one model that few were buying anyway. They did not discontinue the BLRO and VTNR GMTs. They did not make a red/black variant that could be hyped up next. I think that was a pretty good move, no fuel for the speculators.

The releases seemed out of touch for me. If I had the kind of money they are asking for their gold models, I would buy a PP or an independent piece for the uniqueness, instead of yet another mainstream Rolex to be part of the upper middle class mass.

·

Very disappointed with the releases especially the gold deepsea

Funny! True in a sense, it’s mostly just news to most of us, with the watches being kept behind the counter. 😅
