New watch & your opinion

Hello friends,
Since yesterday I am the proud owner of a Baltic MR01. After a month of waiting it arrived yesterday in a nice cork box.
I was positively surprised by the dial with the applied numbers. The open back reveals a view of the beautifully decorated movement. Unfortunately, I can focus this on photo only poorly. The movement is a Hangzhou CAL5000A.
What do you think about the small 36mm watch? Do you like it or do you have some concerns about the movement?
Please let me read your opinion in the comments.

Have a nice week and greetings from Germany

In one word: Cool 😉

·

Class act. That‘s a great piece and you’ve been very shrewd in getting one :)

·

Love the design!  Almost bought one myself, but am trying to keep the collection small while adding more luxury pieces.

Everything about the watch is beautiful, but was concerned about QC issues and having to potentially ship to France for repair. 99% of them work great and Baltic has good customer service, so low risk, but I hesitated.

I can really understand your concerns. This is my "dress watch" and I didn't want to spend luxury money on a watch I rarely wear

·

Looks great 👌

·

Lovely looking watch, especially on that strap - congrats on your purchase. How's the micro-rotor? I'd heard they can be noisy in motion?

·

All silver dial is awesome. How's the legibility?

·

That's a lovely watch. The size is really pleasing. A 36mm case is not small.

That Hangzhou movement, and others from that company, has received very positives reviews for the most part.

Wear that watch proudly! It's a great choice.

·

It's a really great looking watch, and it's a shame that they're not able to keep up with demand currently.

·

Very cool watch! I was also concerned about the movement, but finally relented and ordered one myself in the salmon dial. It's backordered till June 2023, but at least I'm in the que.

Really nice watch and looks great on your wrist! Congrats!!

Beautiful watch. I’m a huge fan of Baltic and what they are doing. I have my MR01 on order and can not wait for it to arrive. If people did not know how much this watch was they would be shocked when you tell them. Great pick up for your collection And congratulation.

·

Congrats!

·

I knew joining watchcrunch would be a bad idea. That watch is absolutely gorgeous. Fantastic finishing on the movement, and the micro rotor let's you enjoy it. Would have been amazing with blued hands against that silver dial, paired with the beads of rice bracelet... I'm guessing the screws are chemically blued though? Not heat blued?

·

Lovely watch (I’m biased 😉).

I always thought the Breguet numerals were a little large on the dial - that was until I started using it. They suit the dial perfectly and the decision to give them a high polish really makes it stand out against the textured surface of the dial. For me, the movement has been fine. Lovely to look at and the noise has been a non issue for me.  It works as a dress watch but depending on the strap it can definitely be worn casually.
The only thing I would consider changing (especially after seeing the A Collected Man limited edition) is to brush the flat bezel - I think the high polish finish just takes your eye away from the dial a little.

·

Very nice. I really like Baltic as a brand, another great watch by then congrats !

·

Congrats! It's a beaut - enjoy it! I just got mine today - I went with a silver dial and bor bracelet.

·

My blue one is being delivered tomorrow! Super excited for this watch. I have multiple 36mm watches, but they’re a bit sportier than this one, so this adds something a little different. You can be sure i’ll be posting about it!

·

I love my salmon one but I waited 5 months and I bought 2 and they only sent 1 I was not crazy about the size at first but it is really understated and elegant . I think all the hoopla is a little overdone though, anyone agree?

·

very cool 👍

I like the finishing, I like the way it looks, I like the size. However... Scores of AliExpress brands will offer the same quality, for far less. One could say, "Yeah, but Baltic is French." Well, a friend of mine was infatuated with Baltic and reached out to them, if they organize any visits to their facilities. It turned out that...there's nothing to visit, unless one's planning on going to China, because that's where they're made, entirely. Simply, I can see nothing to justify Baltic's pricing and the ton of "French brand" hype about them, they're both misplaced. That's not saying I've anything against Chinese watches. If I'd have a bad case of micro-rotor fever, I'd simply choose a comparable AliExpress watch with the same movement, for AliExpress money. The only Baltic that I don't see this way is their Soprod-powered GMT, which falls into the average pricing for Soprod or Sellita-powered GMTs.

By the way...

...when Baltic was in its larval stage and they posted their first concept renders of their chrono and time-only at the Watch Concepts & Designs sub-forum on Watchuseek. Then came their photos of the prototypes, and I couldn't help but notice how tinny the pushers looked, and how mediocre the finishing on them was. Well, not just mediocre, it was bad. Then they announced the price of almost 650 euro (649, if my memory serves me well), and that's when I knew that it won't get any better. A Sea-Gull ST1901 for 650 euro...yeah, right. The time-only, meanwhile, had the absolutely perfunctory and drab Miyota 8-series, which was and remains my pet peeve among movements, only second to pin-lever Ruhla wonders in that respect. And - aaarggghhh - it was proudly displayed through the display back on that watch. On a massive "eeek!" note I quit on following Baltic's WUS thread.

Anyway, does this make the MR01 a bad watch? Absolutely not. My mind about a product is made up when I answer myself a simple question: do I consider it worth saving up for? If I don't, it's a nope. In this case, it's a watch I could wear, but wouldn't buy.

It looks fantastic in my opinion. What do you think about the acrylic crystal?

I really like the "vintage" look that it gives.
Can't say how much it scratches right now

I severely want this watch, but the salmon variant. The only thing I'm a little disappointed with is the complete lack of Lume.. :(

For me the Lume is not a factor on this watch as it is so polished and shiny that a little bit of light is enough to see the time

It's very impressive what the Chinese manufacturers are putting out these days movement-wise.

These Baltics are incredibly beautiful, and they're on my radar since the beginning. This one in blue could be my next watch. I think it's just lovely. Have fun wearing it! A review would be something in which I'd be very  interested to read in a few weeks or months.

Ganz viel Spaß mit der schönen Baltic!

I think I will be making a short review about it when I bounded with it.

Danke dir und Grüße :)

In one word: I love it. But I'm part of the 36mm crew anyway. 😁 How's accuracy been so far? The Hangzhou has a mixed reputation in that regard...

I am very impressionable, are you serious, the MR01s are all made in China,  ? you have got to be kidding, Andrew at Watchfinder seems a fine observer and reviewer , I think by now I would have heard about this ?

Accuracy is 15 seconds per day. As I switch my watch everyday it's most of the time out of power reserve ^^

·

i have been trying to get my hands on this beauty but unfortunately its sold out on in the company website and the other website charge a bomb to import it to India! If anyone know any other sources to purchase would be happy to get in touch

I had one on order and cancelled it. The movement just isn’t the quality of what I wanted. I only want watches that can last a lifetime and I’m not sure this movement will even be servicable. lovely Dial good reviews the movement is too cheap
