Power Reserve Indicator

Hey Crunchers,

I am not a traffic officer or a macarena dancer. Also, I never owned a reference with a power reserve indicator.

I wonder what activity winds more than others. Does it wind enough to the max reserve after all day of office/housework? Does walking wind better than running? This might be answered in the past posts so pardon me if this is a repeat.

I've also never had a power reserve, but it's all wrist movement at the end of the day. If your office work is 95% typing, then probably not. A few hours of physical chores would probably wind it pretty much entirely. Walking might be more wind per meter, but running is definitely more wind per minute.

I've been known to have some pretty remarkably lazy days, and I've never had a watch die over night. However, I have had them die in less than 24hrs of not being worn. It's also easier for small movements to wind it when the power reserve is low because it requires less torque to wind, so it's probably significantly easier to keep a watch from dying than it is to keep it at max power reserve.

Ha, it makes sense that it gets harder coiling up toward the max reserve, like any spring-loading toy. I have very different kinds of work days throughout the week. Some are very stationary with my computer working from home, then I bike around the city and walk around on my field days. Somedays, I want to consult a study on how long each watch lasts after a full day of wear on my collection. Nerd....
