I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time and I think I’ve nailed down my personal top picks for the perfect land, sea, and air 3 watch collection:
- LAND - I see this as my dress watch. I don’t plan on putting on a suit and tie on a boat, or a plane, so land it is! I also can argue that the roots for the Jaeger - LeCoultre stem from the land-based game of polo (horses and all 😄) I’m seriously smitten with its design, elegance, and pure confidence in what it is - a timeless watch with an unmistakable case shape. That’s why the JLC Reverso Classic Duoface Small Seconds takes this spot.
- SEA - It’s pretty hard to beat the darling prince of the sea, the Rolex Submariner…unless of course its dad shows up, i.e. the Sea Dweller! The 50th anniversary Sea Dweller 43 speaks to me, mostly because of its ludicrous water resistance rating, semi-matte dial, inclusion of the date cyclops (first time ever on a Sea Dweller and I love it!) and its built-like-a-tank movement. It also doesn’t hurt that it has the looks of the Sub, just upsized which I love. And the inclusion of the red text is the icing on the cake 👌
- AIR - This one was the easiest choice for me to make…mostly because I had already made it 20 years earlier. 15-year-old me fell in love with the Breitling Navitimer and for my 35th birthday I purchased it as my first luxury watch. I couldn’t be happier! The aviation connection, the B01 movement, the winged logo (mine has the wings since it’s the legacy edition, all other Navitimers from 2018 onwards have the B logo) it was the clear choice 👍
Enough about my perfect land, sea, air 3 piece collection - tell me which 3 watches would make up YOUR dream collection for land, sea, and air 😃
LAND - Zenith El Primero Revival Shadow. Why? stealthy af and I can sport it with a suit, casual wear, you name it! I am not even going into how cool the "El Primero" movement is.
SEA - Sinn U50. Clean and legible dial. A diver's best friend ;)
AIR - Vacheron Overseas Dual Time. I have never seen or worn it but I believe this will be the ultimate travel watch for me.

Uff, what a selection 👌 the Zenith is such a cool timepiece, retro stealth, I fully agree! Sinn are such tough timepieces, they need more respect in the watch community IMO. And the VS, enough said. Awesome choices!
@Watch_Chi3f good choices and thread!
Land: Vacheron Constantin Corne De Vache in Rose Gold
Sea: Rolex Submariner 5513 in gloss dial
Air: Universal Geneve Polerouter Deluxe in solid Rose Gold
Surely Seamaster, Speedmaster and Spacemaster? The ultimate tool watch trio.
(Yes I’m taking the p***)
I think I'm pretty close with the incoming Mathey for "air" and the Hamilton Field for "land". Sea is pretty well covered with some of the others, but it's never held the same level as the other to, specifically land. I'll have to think on that one some more...
Land: Christopher Ward C63. It's dressy enough for anything I do, but also tough enough for anything I do. The WR also means that for practical reasons this could be the "Sea" part of my three watch collection two.
Sea: Christopher Ward 60. Similar to the C63, but with more WR and a timing bezel.
Air: Marathon Navigator. An actual tool watch designed for use in aircraft, with the practicality of tritium illumination, and a quartz movement. I find myself wearing it more than anything else in my collection these days because of the lume and consistency of the quartz.
I could come up with a fantasy list that would be more "interesting", but I reality I know I'll never own the watches, so I might as well stick to what I own/will own.

Thanks @Chunghauphoto - glad you approve 😀
That's a fantastic trio, definitely pieces that you don't see every day 👍

Oh you got me good 😂 I legit was like "Seriously? Well I suppose you can't help what you like, all goood..." then saw your bottom comment - bravo 🤝

Interesting choice with the Mathey for AIR, I didn't even know it existed until now. Reading up on it 👍

I'm beginning to see a pattern with Christopher Ward 😀 great choices! As for the Marathon Navigator, super interesting choice! I actually watched an excellent YouTube video by YoureTerrific going over the timepiece - super light tool watch with a lot going in its favor. I was very intrigued!

I considered some other brands, but I really love the watches CW makes. I think Damasko, Hamilton, Vaer, Tisot, etc., all make compelling watches in my preferred price range as well.
I was hesitant at first to buy "just" a quartz watch for $400 CAD, but now that I have the Navigator, I love it.

I am glad we resonate :)

Oh, I like that! I see the tree/land connection on the GS (that dial is stunning!) I see the air connection on the GMT (the Batman is so nice, love the black/blue combo) and although I've never really connected with any Blancpain in the past, your choice is golden 👌 thanks for sharing!
