Yeah, that's NOT a "Swiss Made" watch.

Can you explain?

·

"Swiss Made" is regulated and coveted. And when Invicta was falsely labeling theirs as such, the FHS came after them.

You are confusing having a mailbox address in Switzerland with a watch actually MADE in Switzerland.

The watch you reference has a Japanese movement in it and is nowhere marked "Swiss Made."

Is a Chinese case, bracelet and likely all cased up in China as well.

Not saying it isn't a decent watch but is most definitely NOT a Swiss watch.

"To be marked Swiss made, a watch has to meet the requirement of minimum 60% of Swiss value.

Previous requirements, such as the incorporation of a Swiss movement, casing-up and final inspection in Switzerland, remain in place."

https://www.fhs.swiss/eng/strengthening.html

And Octon claims an address in SWEDEN, however it does not claim these as "Made in Sweden."

"Octon Watches
Box 44044
100 73 Stockholm
Sweden"

Oh, and Sweden and Switzerland are two different countries.

I understand and agree with much of what you said here but unfortunately I don't think you watched my video on this particular Octon Blackfisken... Yes, Octon is a company based in Sweden and yes there are other Blackfisken models that are not "Swiss Made" but please view the video again and pay attention to the note provided by Octon at the beginning of the video and then get back to me...

Sorry but I have zero interest in the brand. I saw the note at the beginning. That note proves nothing. The sample watch is still not labeled "Swiss Made." It may have a Swiss manufactured movement but that doesn't qualify it alone.

Their only option at present on their website is for a NH35 model. The one in your video and the model on their website is not labeled "Swiss Made."

Hard pass.

No one said you had to have interest in this brand or watch but you're accusing me of posting false information and insulting my intelligence (ie - "Sweden and Switzerland are two different countries") which I don't appreciate. Instead of saying, "I was wrong . . ." you've doubled down and said "I don't believe the company even though they explicitly said that this watch is Swiss Made . . ." and you based your thoughts on nothing at all.

The watch in my video is not a "sample watch", a man named Chad bought it and wanted me to do a video on it before he received it. (As mentioned in the note sent by the company, which you reject based upon your whim)

Also mentioned in the note sent by the company (which you reject based upon reasons only known to you) is that this was their "first ever Swiss Made Octon Blackfisken..." and it was "hand assembled in Switzerland"...

It's still OK, to swallow your pride and admit you were wrong by the way. You have no facts to stake your claims on...

Odd that the "Swiss" watch isn't labeled "Swiss Made" on the dial.

As I said previously, I don't doubt is a decent watch. Whether or not it is any better or worse than a host of other micro brand stock catalog pieces is another story.

Chinese stock parts, chosen from somewhere in Sweden, supposedly. No doubt assembled in China for all iterations.
Slapping a Swiss movement sourced from the back of a van does NOT make for a "Swiss Made" watch. And since the website does not show a Swiss movement as an option, leads me to believe they purchased a movement or two.

The fact that the watch is not labeled "Swiss Made" tells me the owner knows as much and certainly doesn't want a letter from the FSH attorneys.

I am all for people buying what they like. I am also for people understanding that what they buy may not always be what is claimed.

And still no "Swiss Made" on the dial or caseback. A Swiss movement does not equal "Swiss Made."

And when asked in their web chat...crickets.

What I find the most cocerning is that ,on the Octon website in the overview of the watch they say that an octopus has 8 legs. Maybe Swiss Octopi have legs, but where I come from they have tentacles.

·

Cool looking piece, though!

Looks great
