Omega was the buyer. Insurance company for the auction house likely covers and goes after the seller. It is not as if they donโ€™t have all their info.

Yup from what I read they (Omega) purposely jacked up the bidding so no one else who get it thatโ€™s the way I interpreted it. Unless Iโ€™m wrong please correct me.

what betas me Is how a watch that was predicted to be well in the 6 figure range and eventually even surpassed the million by some margin wasn't inspected throughly BEFORE the auction ... I mean it clearly was possible to figure out it wasn't as described.

I think what that shows above all else is that even "reputable" sellers such as auction houses don't always properly inspect watches before selling.
