Orient Star Watches, although nice but overpriced?

I happen to own one Orient Star that being the discontinued Star Seeker GMT. I don’t remember when or where I bought but the price at the time was right around $550 USD. I thought it was a great price to have an in house GMT from a well known brand like Orient. I have yet to own another Orient Star model (I do have one of their pilot watches in the standard collection) anyways I was browsing the OS line although there was some great looking watches, the prices had me scratching my head the cheapest OS is around $580 a simple three hand with a open heart and the most expensive is a moon phase with a power reserve for around $2,980 Now my problem isn’t the watches but the prices. I don’t see myself dropping $580 or $2,980 on a watch with only a date and a moon phase. For those prices especially the $2,980 model it better have a full calendar or a chronograph.

Now here are some competitors

Seiko Open Heart

Open heart $399.99 on Amazon

Longines Master Collection on Jomashop for $2660.

I don’t know about you but I’d rather have the Seiko Presage on the bracelet and the Longines.

The two OS cost $3,560

The Seiko and Longines cost $3,059

A savings of $501.

And yes I am aware I’m comparing two Orient Star models to a Seiko and a Longines but I’m looking at this through the best bang for my buck when it comes to these types of watches.

Anyways what to you think? And are there any other watches you can compare with the two OS models pictured above.

The issue isn’t price but whether OS is an aspirational brand to you. I don’t think it’s on anyone’s radar.

Yes they’re through the website. I thought it was easier that way to compare the Manufacturers prices their sell their watches for to non Manufacturer watch prices.

You're comparing wing nuts to balloons. On some brands of watches the MSRP is wildly misleading and Orient is one of them, JLC is not. Only the newest of noobies pays MSRP on Orient, it's a ridiculous number. Baume & Mercier and others are the same.

I don't think you can go wrong with Longines. They have a solid history and make even better watches. For $2k you can get an amazing time piece from them that is a genuine high quality Swiss product.

I like Orient Star but wouldn't pay inflated prices.
