Could you ever turn into a 3 watch collector.

If you had to narrow it down to only three watches to wear from now on, what would they be. I don't care what brand, price, style as long as its three watches. And if you can tell Us why you chose the three watches you did. I'll start.

First, I would choose this Bulova Devil Diver this would be my one and only diver. 200m is plenty enough for everyday water activates.

Image

Second this non branded Pilots/Field Watch. For a small watch this 40mm its quickly becoming one of my all-time favorites, and best of all its a strap monster. I've had it on leather, on two different steel bracelets and now this green nato. And yes its an automatic that both hacks and handwinds.

Image

And lastly this Cadisen Neptune YM (Homage)

I've been searching for a blue dial automatic sports watch under the $500 range and this checked off al the boxes. Blue dial, automatic, minimum 100m, and the Rolex style I love to own someday.

Image

Now I didn't put any GMT's, Chronogrpahs or Dress watches reasons. 1) I don't travel and if I do its usually in the same time zone, 2) I don't really time anything so anything over an hour to me is useless and 3) I don't wear suits and ties.

Rolex Submariner & Omega Speedmaster as both are just a classic watches & Casio G Shock square for when you don't want to be wearing an expensive watch.

Only if I reclassified all but three watches as something like 'toys'.

Which 5 of them kind of are. Lol

·

My ideal collection would be three watches! 😀👍

Rolex Submariner

Rolex Explorer (36mm)

Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch

I'd be perfectly happy. For now though, it's my OLKO Special Edition Steinhart OceanGMT, my Tissot V8 Chronograph, and my G-Shock 5600BB. I have a few others, but I wear these three almost exclusively.

I'm a butterfly who loves variety so I would absolutely hate this, but if I had to I'd choose these three from my current herd:

My favourite - complicated, nice glow and heft from the 18k gold case, well-sized for me at 37mm. Surprisingly versatile other than for sport, swimming, diy and gardening.

Image

Black dial + steel case for outfits that the above white dial + gold doesn't suit.

Image

A bit of 70s colour to spice things up now and again.

I've tried this before and haven't managed to get down to a dozen yet.

But I'd expect one would be a dress watch - I don't think I own a suit that fits but that doesn't stop me wearing it with jeans and a t-shirt.

Another would be a chronograph, because I like the complication and the added interest it gives the dial (even if I had no use for it).

·

ah.....NO

·

Can't do it. Too many watches with sentimental value.

·

I literally thought about this this morning, as I was trying to choose a watch for the 1WC. I think that I can do it. I realize that the collection would be two dive watches and one dress/ simple three-hander. I would be more than happy with the two dive watches that I already have. If I am just keeping this to three watches, I would probably trade the Stowa for a 34-36mm hand cranker of some sort.

Funny you mentioned this, I was gonna replace one of my three with a watch that was gifted to me, but I thought watches like those deserve their own thread. Like watches I would never sell or trade.

The 3 above would get me by, if I must!! 🤣

Can I also keep my Oris Aquis, as I brought this when my dad passed? I like my green OP 41mm too!! 🙈

3 watch is tricky. I'm not sure I can make it work! 🙈

·

Can’t

Can’t even go lower than 20 🤣

·

Speedmaster

Sea Dweller 16600

JL Reverso

Love that Nivada Grenchen...green dial is fantastic!

·

Could never do it.

That ship sailed about 50 years ago.

I love the fact that some Crunchers have an idea on how to pull off a 3 watch only collection but personally, it would take me too long to do such a thing because I not only have a lot of watches (See my profile for my collection) plus a lot of them have some sort of sentimental value to me so it is hard to pick just 3 or 2. All I do know is that I love chronographs, specially the Seiko Flightmasters and I need to step back from owning so many chronographs lol! I am looking at some Casio G-Shocks from https://www.discovery-japan.me/ and other places. As far as dressier watches, I do not have any because I do not go anywhere that requires for me to dress up nicely. I can only say that I am enjoying this thread though! 😎

·

I’m happy with my 3 watch collection now.

1. Seiko 5 blue SRPD51 - diver

2. Casioak - sport

3. Vintage Rolex Daydate 36 - dress

·

Your right Jae couldn’t just look at those in his collection!

·

Is this a foreign language? Me No understand you 😂😂😂😂🤙

·

I'm currently very happy with a 3 watch rotation

Explorer [Work: Daily, Office, Pub..]

Pelagos [Play: Vacation, swim, hiking, fishing..]

GShock Square [Beater: DIY, gardening, painting..]

BUT, the sentimental pieces make 3 watches totally impossible.

Image

To achieve ultimate 3 watch Zen; There should be no itch left to scratch, the sentimental piece(s) would double-up as functional pieces - and I'm going to need an entirely different family lineage..

Work: Patek Nautilus 5711

Image

Play: Patek Aquanaut 5164 - travel time

Image

Beater: 40mm explorer ii

Image

PS. Putting this together - I was originally headed down the AP route... But I hadn't realised the regular Royal Oak was so poor on water resistance - 50m vs 120m for the Pateks..

·

I think that a quartz Tank, yellow Doxa Sub300 and my Blackbay36 would be a pretty perfect trio, but I'm not going for it. For now 😜

·

Navitimer in 3 different colors 🙂

·

Hmmmm ... the iwc mark XX, sinn u50 and Longines spirit 42mm. I love watches that are adventure ready but tough at work as well. Handsome but can also fit in many situations. These would be with me for years.

·

While my previous post would be my dream collection ... from my current would be my Formex essence, swc hyper g and tsaobaltimore legacy

·

I’ve been pondering this myself lately. The problem is I invested in a very nice 4-watch box so am motivated to keep the collection at ~4 😂

If I had to though, I think these 3 might make up the 3-watch collection (working on getting that GS 😌):

If we don't consider price or availability at all, I would be a great independant watchmakers wearer

-H.Moser Endeavour in funky blue

-Czapek Antartique S or Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF

-FP Journe Octa Lune

Don't need a chrono, a gmt nor diver, just a beautiful dress with a twist, an everyday with decent WR and a monument in modern watchmaking with a poetic complication.

I’m trying my best to get to three at the moment but I just can’t get there. I’d keep my speedy pro and I’ve just bought a sinn u50 SDR that’s fully tegamented so that’s two I’m currently torn between my darth tuna and my blue seamaster and can’t bring myself to make that decision. So if I can’t get to three I might as well keep to 7 or maybe 12 😂

How do I pick three from these 🤷‍♂️😂

·

I guess ill just keep the IWC/Cartier, Rollie OP, and a casio/timex/twsteel/omega/seiko

·

It would be a challenge but I could learn to become a "3 watch collector" and buy watches 3 at a time!😉

Possibly after retirement
