How to set your watch without the hands moving

Let me start out I'm typeing with the wrong finger so please excuse my bad typing.

If you anything like me you have to try several times to set the time on your watch without the hands moving.

So I remembered what ppl used to do before digital watches.

They used a ball point pen to the time if the crown has a flat face, and a straight edge if the crown had a little round nib.

I did my best to show what I mean in the pics but was difficult to shoot but I'm sure you get what I mean.

Please make sure if it is a flat face crown to put the pen tip in the middle of the crown to stop any stress on the stem.
