Once you see a Rolex Milgauss you can’t unsee it.

The Rolex Milgauss is polarizing and compelling. It’s hard for any other watch or brand to be able to claim that. What makes the Milgauss so interesting is that on the surface the sum of its parts seem at odds with itself.  I argue the sum actually compliment each other by creating a visual balance between contemporary and classic elements.  The restrained minimal case is juxtaposed with an unorthodox green sapphire crystal giving the watch mystery and intrigue without going overboard.  Rolex continues this play with a classic matte black dial coupled with conservative hour and minute hands and then crowning the watch face with the highly controversial orange lighting bolt second hand.  To integrate the second hand they then add in orange elements with a ring of minute markers on the hour and topped off with the Milgauss moniker under a traditional 3D chrome Crown and Rolex branding.  The 3, 6 and 9 all have a slight orange push-up color to the lumes which subtly stand out from the other white hour markers.  The Rolex Milgauss is really a design execution of Newton’s 3rd law of motion; for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Very cool watch! When they bring it back in a few years I wonder what changes they will make

Honestly, the Milgauss is the only Rolex I find to be even remotely interesting.

I’m not sad they discontinued it, and I actually don’t care if they don’t bring it back. I think it’s amazing the way they left it but if they do bring it back I hope they do so with the same attention to detail as this reference.

I love this watch and had been on the waiting list for it. I MIGHT consider a used one if the price is right. My wife had tried to get this for me for our 20 anniversaries last year.

Got mine in February this year. So glad I did. It's like for one day the Rolex designers decided to drop acid and I love it for that.

Mine’s used and came with all the papers, box, warranty cards and tags.

The only reason I don’t have a Z-Blue is that every time I tried one on, it was much too big for me to wear comfortably.

I love the green crystal.

·

Here's hoping when they do re-release the new incarnation of the Milgauss Rolex would drop the soft iron cage for modern antimagnetic techniques.

Had a chance to try an “exhibition only” model on this week at an AD. It immediately became a grail watch for me.

I just love the green sapphire crystal. I know it's synthetic, but it's so different from anything else they offer.

I love the green crystal.

It's the biggest reason why, for me.

I guess it’s a super pain in the back side to make a green sapphire crystal, so Rolex decided not to bother patenting the process. The fact that they went to these lengths just makes the Milgauss even cooler.

Rip. Here’s to hoping it’s brought back soon

Agree. I love the history and heritage of rolex but never was pulled to add one to my collection until the Milgauss caught my eye. Now I have 2 !
