Watches for the Wife!

Hi everyone,

As I fall ever deeper into this addiction, I have decided that if I can get my wife on board, I have a good chance of justifying more purchases for myself!

Its our ten year anniversary next month and I was thinking of getting her her first automatic.

Currently she has the usual fashion watches (Michael Kors, Ted Baker etc.), but wears a solar Skagen on mesh with mother of pearl dial, the most.

I was looking at the Seiko Presage line - the Cocktail Time ones. Any experiences with these?

Ideally no rose gold as most of her others have this somewhere.

Budgets up to £400 but may stretch a bit for the right piece.

Thanks.

Well my trick is this… I buy my wife a very expensive item, like a purse, bag and or watch so I also will then have the budget for myself the equally priced watch she just got 🤔🤫 …. I recommend the following off course this just my opinion, I 😍 Persages enamel dials here’s the two women watches (cuz apparently it’s smaller in diameter) …

Well you can also gift her the mens Persages which a fav of mine here’s a few…

This was the last time I ever saw my Colt. It didn’t even make it back from the shop before it was claimed. She wears it better than me.

I did buy her a tiny Must de Cartier for her 30th, which she does wear sometimes. She appreciated me trying, but she always wears the Breitling now. When we were in our 20s she wore a rose gold mens Breil Chronograph, which she loved, so she prefers bigger watches. Her sister always wears ”ladies” sized watches (24-28mm), so it just varies.

The point… she will probably wear what you wear, and may even commandeer it for herself if she likes it enough. Better buy yourself a backup.

When my wife had our daughter, I gave her an automatic Tissot as a gift.  She likes the watch, but I don’t think she cares about it being an automatic.  Here’s a nice option though for $230-ish:

More to choose from:

This might be a good option at $275:

If you don’t mind a lesser known brand, these are also really nice:

You’re not going to find another Swiss automatic for $110 out there.

Either way, you can definitely get her a Swiss automatic well within your budget.

Almost forgot Certina!!!

My SO got herself the new 35mm Tissot PRX with the white dial. How about that one? She loves hers

Cocktail time is awesome.  I would imagine your wife would love it.  I can't think of a more creative dial at that price point.

CW is going to drop 36mm versions of the Sealander sometime in the next few months.  That is a lot of watch for the money.  They are £635 on strap for the 3mm versions.  I would think the 36mm will be slightly less.  There is a coupon code every quarter for £100 off which would bring it down closer to your price point (the current code is 100LOUPE25).  They are also coming in several colors.  Here was the teaser from the last Loupe.  Only down side  is I don't know if they would drop in time for the anniversary!

Smiths 36mm prs.

Thanks all, considering a ‘his and hers’ Cocktail Time as I dont have a dressy watch. Will update as and when!

My wife choses her purses over my watches.😭

I agree with what some of the people here recommend. The Seiko Presage is what I got my girlfriend as her first automatic. It was the 34mm with a pinky dial and display back.

But then, she took my Spinnaker mid-size Croft from me. She loves that watch because of it’s size and casual look. Here’s the link.

Anyway, good luck and have fun with your lady when you present her watch💯
