An Inspiring 'Game'-Shock Alert!聽

Just when the day couldn't get any better, I've been browsing through the Casio Official Site. I can't help but be repeatedly captivated by this recent release of the G-Shock. There's something about it that resonates and continually eludes me, and I am genuinely captivated by this model's accent and its flawless execution. I couldn't seem to rid myself of the overwhelming sensation of familiarity that washed over me.

Seriously, am I the only one who remembers and senses the vibes from the video game Mirror's Edge? This watch should accurately capture the essence of the overall design.

If you played the game, you know how beautiful it is.

Briefly, the game's art direction is inspired by modernist design principles and the concept of a "utopian dystopia," featuring sleek urban landscapes contrasted with oppressive surveillance and control, creating a compelling visual experience.

Minimalist urban environment characterized by clean lines, geometric shapes, and stark contrasts. Buildings are often sleek and angular, with large expanses of white or metallic surfaces.

This G-shock just feels so connected to immerse yourself as Faith Connors in parkour and running on the rooftop with a view of the cityscapes. Overall, it combines minimalist design principles, vibrant colors, and sleek aesthetics to create a visually striking and futuristic but realistic architecture in the game visuals and aesthetics itself.

Take a moment to read the ideal of the writing of the description here on the official product page. It makes sense.

Here's an overview in comparison of my other black and 'boring' G-Shocks in the collection. Unlike my sporty GBD-200UU-9 watch, which has a Stormtrooper vibe, this one is clear, calm, and gentle instead of bold, dark, and menacing. (Like Yin Yang)

Pros:

  1. Undoubtedly, the form factor is a sleeker, more modern, and thinner wise improvement compared to the classic DW G-shock squares you would appreciate at first pick.

  2. The red/orange pushers are much easier to press and accessible. It highlights signal action, much like the runner's vision in the game guiding you to the necessary functions to forward in the story.

  3. Pedometer. A step counter that not only helps you keep track of your distance, but also offers numerous health benefits.

Love-Dislike?

The Bluetooth Connectivity. For me, having the ability to effortlessly sync time and update the software was the sake for convenience.

Cons:

  1. Only Exclusive to the Official Site. Odd as I'm not sure why only the 3 variants are available to other online watch retailers. Was it really intentionally because of how special the design is?

  2. Lack of options for a strap replacement or alternative.

  3. On the display LCD, it is definitely a "Mirror's" watch but with a bit of an "Edge". (Pun Intended). The visibility might be issues where at certain lighting areas or angles, it would reflect a lot, as you might not be able to see the time properly. Unless you're in the need to take a moment to look at your face, I'll say that's still practical.

What might the feature it could have gone for?

Tough Solar.

To conclude,

Do I recommend it? Absolutely! I simply love the looks of it. Unless you're imagining things like I am. I'm utterly enthralled by this game, reminiscing about the time I played and completed it on Steam. My mind is blown away.

Anyway I hope you enjoy taking the time and find my post a lengthy read but interesting. I pretty much enjoyed writing and reading about a watch and a video game perspective together.

Oh I LOVED that game, what a blast from the past! And you're right, the watch totally looks like it could have been plucked right from Faith's wrist, with that white and red colorway . The mirrored display really seals the deal.

Thanks for sharing the great writeup and nostalgic game pics!

I loved that game too and my fav g-shock is the GBD series so it鈥檚 pretty amazing to see this. I like the colour but would never wear it but the smaller case design is a winner

I absolutely loved that game and couldn't resist getting the Stormtrooper version of that watch myself.

Excellent score. I'm drawn more and more to this model with every post or review I come across. Problem is each color is cool in its own way so I'm not sure which one to go with. The mirror LCD on this white one really adds to its clean futuristic look. Add to it that ultraviolet style backlight and it gives me Tron vibes - but the more modern Tron.

Wow what a flash back! Loved that game. Casio did an amazing job adapting it. Enjoy!

It's really nice. I would use the GBD as my running tracker and its bit more weight than my GD-B500S-8 as I expected. Dimension wise, it does feels smaller but more wearable yea, it's an absolute win. But anyway, both are still great for fitness purposes!馃挭

Thanks man. Yea, it's so surreal how a diverse range of watches can surpass our expectations with specific color schemes, truly captivating our hearts of an enthusiast. The LCD's 'Mirror's Edge' futuristic theme seals the deal. Your tone is spot on鈥擨 can definitely see how Tron fits the vibe perfectly too!

I couldn't help it; it was all my own thought. I'm amazed they took that inspiration so literally. Thank you!

Great post Glen! Man what a watch and the backstory is captivating! I have never played the game but after reading your words I feel like I have spent hours parkouring this digital city 馃槑. I need to get more information about the watch now haha. Thanks for sharing my friend and congratulations again 馃憦
