To buy or not to buy

Hi guys,

I'm hesitant on buying an Omega Railmaster blue dial on Chrono24.

I've been eyeing it for a while now and I like a lot the watch. On top of that, the price asked by the online dealer is great! Like a few thousands of euros below RRP. It comes apparently with everything: activated 5y international warranty, box, papers and it comes from France (I'm living in Belgium). Finally the seller gets +40 reviews all 5.0/5.0.

So why an I hesitant? Because it's online and we're not speaking of a watch below €1k. It's still quite some money...

What do you think? Should I or should I not?

Thanks!

Only you can decide the value of the deal. If it affects your financial stability, then it’s not worth it.

I love my Railmaster. Great watch, strap monster makes it a chameleon able to fit into any situation. It’s my go to travel watch also.

I have no idea where either of you are.

But a car ride from Brussels to Paris is less than 4 hours. Maybe offer to meet for lunch somewhere in the middle and make a deal.

If you are at all uncomfortable with this type of transaction, definitely hold off. I guess the question is what would make you feel comfortable with an online transaction of this amount? If nothing, then you should probably look for other options, like local sales. That being said, I can say that my transactions on Chrono24 and eBay have gone very well. Not saying that is the case for everyone, but just my experience. Good luck with your purchase.

Check if they have a storefront and go on a weekend trip. Seeing it in person might help your decision.

You and me both! I actually had a denim dial Railmaster with bracelet in my basket on Chrono24 this weekend. But ultimately decided to not pull the trigger.

Chrono24 uses escrow account meaning the seller does not get paid until you authorize it upon receiving and inspection.

If the seller has a perfect score with multiple selling transactions and on a pretty well known platform as chrono24, i think i would take the risk. My personal opinion

One of the best Omega models of late, but I always vote no on principle.
