Vulcain 50s Presidents' Moonphase

A Vulcain 50s Presidents' Moonphase joins my collection. This 42mm wide by 11mm tall watch has a lug to lug of 49.1mm, and is 22mm between the lugs. It is water-resistant to 50 meters. The push pull 5.8mm crown has a checkerboard decoration and the stainless steel case has 4 pushers to set the full calendar and moonphase. While mostly polished, there is a band of Satin-brushed finish on the side of the case and lugs. Beneath the domed shaped sapphire crystal sits a stunning blue Sunray dial, made of metallised sapphire, that curved down at the minute ring. This blue is just gorgeous and my photography doesn't do it justice. The faceted dauphine hands, and applied indexes are high polish rhodium plated that sparkles in the light. The moonphase is blue with a gold moon and stars. The day and month are in a stepped window with blue letters on a white background. The minute and seconds hands are slightly curved and lineup with the minute track perfectly. This watch is powered my the Vulcain V-58, a modified Soprod A10-2 base with a Dubois Depraz 9313 complete calendar module. It is rhodium plated brass with heat blued screws, Côte de Genève finish on the signed rotor and plates, and comprises 147 components. It pivots on 25 jewels, beats at 4Hz and has a 42 hour power reserve. It is running with Chronometer specs. Fitted on a black Alligator strap, she is a beauty.
