My Timex is f*cked

Remember when I posted that wrist shot of my 'new' '72 model womens Timex? Yeah it's f*cked. I just picked it up, tried to wind it up. The crown gave half a turn then it felt like the mainspring has gone tight. It'll tick for about 40 seconds, then die. Don't know if it's worth mentioning but its 4 beats per second and what seems like every 12th beat it misses one. Movement is an old pin lever M23. know it's not worth repairing so any suggestions as to what to do with the carcass? Tear it apart, transplant a movement, use it for donors? Or do any of you want it? I know @UnholiestJedi said it was a birth year watch for him so if you want it just as a funky gimmick it's yours. This is probably what I get for buying £2 vintage but it's just a bit irritating. Is this what I should expect now I'm buying more Vintage? Thanks for taking the time to read my rant

Edit: Just checked it and it's barely clinging to life. I'll keep you all posted. I'm gonna keep an eye on it for now and if it does die my offer of the carcass to anyone that wants it will still stand

Update 2: Well it's ticking but only so long as it's lying crown side up. Well it's better than nowt

Use it like med. students use a cadaver.

Try to take it apart and get a hands on view of the innards of a mechanical watch. Let it die with a purpose.

I may well end up doing that. Honestly it's such a cool little thing with so much charm. I would have loved to have been able to pick one of these up from the chemist in it's heyday for $10.95 (I believe that's how much they cost based on that old ad "this is why a $10.95 X is better than a $10.95 Timex)

I've got me a birth year Timex actually. But like foghorn said, use it to muck around with. There's no mistakes, just learning opportunities.

It would be rather nifty to put a new engine in it.

It would be kind of cool to set up a "pot luck" for dead soldiers like the Timex.  Any modder or someone who just wants to fiddle or learn on one can take them off of our hands. It's not like I have five or eight or ten just like that Timex (well, maybe I do).

Thats one of the Cons about Vintage you buy something that maybe worth it. Then to find out the unexpected thats a real bummer.
