What would you like to see at Watches and Wonders next month?

Following the 'usual' COVID-related uncertainty of our times, Watches and Wonders has been confirmed.

With less than 2 months left before the show, what would you like to see this year? Is there a specific brand you're interested in, or a specific type of watch? More generally, what do you think about this kind of event?

Personally, I am looking forward to seeing what Baume & Mercier, Oris, Rolex, Tudor and Zenith will do, among the exhibiting watchmakers.

In particular, I would love to see 2 things:

  1. More dress watches in classic sizes (34-39mm), but really just more dress watches in general.
  2. An everyday piece under 45mm lug-to-lug and with at least 5 bar wr that flies under the radar, can take a beating and costs less than 2k, ideally on a bracelet (would love to see additions to the ORIS Big Crown Pointer date and the Tudor 1926 collections).

My wishes are probably going to remain dreams as I'm expecting to see mostly large and flashy sports watches or different colour iterations of existing models but well, one can dream.

What about you?

bb58 gmt...... PLEASE!

Everyone has been asking for it. Not sure I would personally get it since I couldn't shake the "replacement watch" feeling from it, but I see why that would be a killer release. I don't know if Tudor will present it at W&W2022 but I believe that sooner or later they will indeed shift their focus on this new and sure-to-be cash cow. It is logical that they would, IMO.

On the other hand, if they were to release a new colour combination for a BB58 GMT, that is not a Rolex-inspired one... I would dig that.

If Zenith announces more watches after this week I will be flabbergasted haha

To be honest after the past few years showing, I care much less about what I want to see because realistically I won't be buying any or all of the watches. I tune in to see what each brand will release.

With that being said Tudor is always on my radar because they have been hitting it out of the park these past few years (albeit with the Black Bay line) and Breitling since I think they have recently found their groove.

If I had to pick one watch to dream up it would be a Tudor Heritage Chrono Monte Carlo upgrade, where they would switch the current subdials to make it similar to that of the original watch and shrink it down a bit. This is a dream however haha

I would love a Coke or black bezel, gilt, red(maybe) gmt hand bb58 gmt.

Breitling is not exhibiting at W&W. Expectations from Tudor are indeed high, they're doing a good job at building hype around their watches.

Knowing Breitling they will release watches during W&W, even though they aren't "attending" just like last year. Smart marketing on their end.

If they make something else in 36mm like the Chronomat, even if they keep to oddly only market it as a "Ladies" watch, I'd be happy. Not sure how I feel about the integrated bracelet design, but would love to see more Breitling watches in that size and they seem to be doing well in regard to small watches! Obviously almost only men would buy those 4-5k mechanical watches so I don't mind what they say, they're men watches 😂

Right, if anything the marketing of it to woman only hurts their sales! I think they are downsizing many of their watches, while keeping their traditionally big watches big (like the Avenger line). I never got to try on the "bullet style" bracelet, but from what I see it's very Breitiling so it does makes sense. I don think that it can be changed however so not too big of a deal if someone doesn't like it.

BB58 Pepsi GMT and/or Rolex GMT with slimmer lugs.

Did you see the internet page of the event? I "really" like how they want to show everyone what will be on the show ... BUT first you have to REGISTER ...🥺 "Great" approach...

A new, thinner Pelagos with less text on the dial and without fixed strap bars. In black. 😍

·

Honestly, I don't care very much about these events.

Let each brand roll their own agenda when and where they see fit.

My prefered format is much smaller local events where an AD might invite 40 or 50 clients and present his watches

As long as they reduce the ridiculous size (both thickness and lug to lug) I’m fine with any colour really 😂

50mm lug to lug for a 42mm isn’t outrageous. It wore very comfortably on my 7.5 inch wrist. The thickness I didnt love, however.

Yeah for contemporary standards is just a bit large but I like classic watches so it feels like a wall clock 😅 and the thickness is too much, I agree, especially on that LEGO-Brick like case
