The Longines Spirit 37 does NOT have a screw-down crown. Reviews say otherwise.

Background:

I am writing this post just to give everyone a heads-up.

I have been looking for a watch from a well-established Swiss brand with less than 39mm of diameter and 46mm of lug-to-lug distance, with a metal bracelet, and with a screw-down crown.

During my research, I came across the Longines Spirit 37, and it seemed to tick off all the boxes (it sounds easy, but there are very few watches that meet my requirements, unfortunately. So far the only other candidate is the ORIS Big Crown Pointer Date Cervo Volante, and it still lacks the bracelet. There are Tudors that meet these requirements, such as the Black Bay 36, but I don't like the design.)

Problem

Anyway, I went on to try the Longines Spirit 37 in a boutique and it has no screw-down crown. I talked to the staff, I did some more independent research, and yeah, no screw-down crown.

Now, I wonder about all those watch reviews online, claiming that the Spirit 37 has a screw-down crown.

I don't know if this mistake is wanted or unwanted, but there are several - quite well-recognised - blogs and review channels that mention that the Spirit 37 has a screw-down crown. Google yourself.

Conclusion

I'm not accusing anyone of purposefully pushing wrong information, but maybe less superficiality could benefit some of these reviewers.

Assuming these are all honest mistakes, this abundancy of misinformation means, at least, that most reviews from these sources are written without even having the watch in hand.

I just figured I'd post this here, in case anyone is looking into the same watch. These days many people buy online, and I think the lack of a screw-down crown on a sports watch (especially when we may read online that said sports watch has indeed a screw-down crown) may be a deal breaker for some.

the only review of the Longines Spirit 37 I trust is @Chunghauphoto 's here on WatchCrunch.

The crown is described correctly 😉

Mu-hahaha! You foolish child!
Thank You for your kind words - as with all reviews, we try to glean what is opinion and what is fact. It’s certainly not good if those reviewers are getting those things wrong or if they are at the mercy of a press release. I personally tend to avoid any review that just has the press release photos/videos. You can get more by visiting the manufacturer’s website or even DM them for more info.
