Great watch

What does anyone put such a gorgeous watch on a rubber bracelet? I might be a man that wears too much jewelry compared to most, but it just doesn’t make sense to put such a “ugly” bracelet on it. If you want a “work” watch go buy an apple or whatever that watch should be showcased.

Shots fired at Apple😂. Rubber/resin/plastic should only be worn for specific occasions (water, beach, temp, etc.)

I like to mess with ppl, which is why my Hamilton Thinline Jazzmaster is on a purple Watch Steward Elastic....🤪

Usually I can pick out the fellow watch nerds, due to their ticking eyes when they see it lolol.

For real though, I wear some of mine exclusively on rubber, it doesn't get as nasty when you are dressed to the nines and standing outside, in NYC, for hours on post, in the middle of August. It was miserable and that's when I learned NYC got hot too!

On the fact that people do what they want goes without saying. Far be it from me to judge. I’ve just always been a guy who wants to compliment the watch with a nice bracelet. For all I know he has that or just likes the combo of the rubber. So touché on me making a comment that’s out of line. It’s a beautiful watch how ever anyone wants to have it in their best way.

Make no mistake, you are judging, and I am here for it (because I mostly agree with you).

Can a rubber strap be worn with a blue suit? (for @Ichibunz )

I have to ask if your name is from Van Halen’s song Ice Cream Man. If so gotta love it

·

I just love rubber divers straps, I would however not wear them on a dress watch 😉

Exactly!!!! But I obviously don’t like the rubber band

Rubber has its place...generally not in the Boardroom.

Nowadays, classic gentlemen's style seems to have flown out the window never to return. Everyone running around in hoodies or with their shirts untucked.

My tailor is dying a slow death...rarely does anyone want bespoke suits, shirts, jackets and slacks any more.

What will we do when they all go broke?

For now. Fashion is cyclical. When Mad Men was getting big, there was a HUGE uptick in a more tailored style vs the typical boxy, off the shelf suits.

And there will still always be a market for tailors. While the typical image of those in federal/local LEO service is wearing an off the shelf, cheap suit; I can honestly say I've worked with just as many Secret Service/Fed and local types who are rocking very nicely tailored classic suits. And not overly expensive either, but something that conveys class and "I care about my appearance".

Now the big distinction is in watch choice lol. But not everyone's perfect. 🤣

Just as many "dress" fossils, Casios, smart watches, as actual sports/dress watches. Sometimes it's a deliberate choice, other times it's because some of these guys/gals actually only have or need one watch. And that one watch they wear every day, all day, in every situation.

I am colour coordinated today 🙂 Retired now , but I do not sit around in trackydacks and thongs 😂

No problem with putting any watch on a rubber strap,my wife has other ideas and things I'm wrong

I like my tropic rubber straps on my dive watch. I think it’s super useful and is easy to clean.

The Everest straps on some of the Rolex or Tudors look great too. One of the other users I saw on here just posted a Daytona on rubber and it looked great! I mean, to each his own but don’t yuck my yum.

It’s like a Saville Row tailored suit, you can wear it with a pair of flip flops if you like, and if you do like then who cares what people think. I am getting more into straps as you can change the look/feel of a watch, without getting a new watch. The problem is most can only be bought online so you don’t know until you get it home, it adds up. I am not one of those people who can be bothered returning, “damn printer ran out of ink again”. Sorry for rambling but in the end only person who cares is you.

It makes the watch less formal.

·

Agree, but that's coz I find them really uncomfortable!

·

The Omega Aqua Terra rubber strap looks like leather from afar and is super comfortable. I like it more than the polished center link bracelet with no micro adjust, so I've basically worn it on rubber every day since getting it in early 2021. I've never changed the strap on it once, the rubber is that good.

All of them in my world lol

Don’t like bracelets. At all. Sometimes that means leather/leather-ish. Sometimes rubber. It’s not an effort to make the watch less formal, or some kind of statement. I just don’t like metal bracelets. The only two I have are one on a Tag that is integral to the watch, and one on a crusty old Vostok that I can’t remove without destroying the watch.
