Glad you got yours. I replaced the band but reused the butterfly clasp as it was unique. Setting the moonphase is a bit of a process. It advances with the hands. Pull the crown out fully (second position) and advance the hands day by day until the moon is in the correct position. ‘Mr. Boh’ has a little red curl in the center of his head that helps to center. This is most easily done on a full moon, which will be on April 23 this month. After you have the moon where you want it push the crown in to the first position and set the date correctly. That’s it (whew). I have a couple of quartz movements that set this way.
I just caught up with your post today, Per. What a beautiful and interesting piece! I think your strategy is sound. I usually have one or two that are on my list, but don’t pursue any one obsessively. With the size of my collection, I should have your ethic of one or two out for each one in as I now have a very large number of ‘first rank’ watches in rotation, around 30. For example, I’ve got four nice Omegas, and my wife has two. Many others in the occasional box. However, emotions still rule for me and I’m attached to 90+% of them all. I’ll mature eventually, but not just yet.
Enjoy your new ALS, looks like a great watch.
Not sure of my true next choices, but three that are likely:
Omega Speedmaster Snoopy Silver - on a waiting list, so maybe. . .
Tsao Baltimore Legacy GMT, still want to keep supporting my local microbrands!
Paneri Quaranta Steel DLC Luna, just tried this one on yesterday:
Indeed, that’s close to where I was on the brand. I’m not totally converted but I was certainly more impressed than I expected to be. They had 44s and 47s in the shop. While they were well finished, they weren’t for me. It’s these newer 40s and maybe 42s that are drawing me in. I’ll post more if I do more.
