This EcoDrive two-tone watch got a brief mention in a prior review. It. is a 3 hand date quartz powered by a E111 EcoDrive and a two tone polished steel case. The black dial is a bit plastic-looking, but there are nicely applied batons for the five minute marks, lightly lumed hands and printed hashes and numbers around the chapter ring. It’s one that ‘looks good from 5 feet away’. It is accurate to a few seconds a month and has run well for more than 5 years. The cases look almost plated, but the finish has worn well. It has a sapphire crystal that shows no scratching. The story here is the band. It came with a two-toned band that to me shouted CHEAP WATCH. After some thought, I replaced it with a two-toned navy and cream NATO band with silver hardware that matches the watch. Presto! Nice casual addition to the box, good for weekend wear. It has 100m water resistance, so with the NATO band, I don’t mind wearing this pool or waterside. I’ve replaced both bands - the Citizen OG ‘leather’ bands have an unpleasant lining that feels stiff and doesn’t wear well. We’ve had a bit of discussion recently that lead to this post. I have yet to find a two-toned bracelet - expensive or cheap - that I want to wear, but with the right band, I think the two-toned cases work for me. This is one of those fairly inexpensive Citizens that are in my ‘can’t go wrong’ box as they cost ~$150-$200 new and keep excellent time with no battery changes.
