Back to the ‘90’s for comfort?

Image

Some recent good posts on the comfort of watches got me to pull out an old quartz watch that was gifted to me about 15 years ago and I think dates back to the ‘90’s. A DKNY quartz chronograph. I cleaned it up for a wear today. Nothing special about the generic face, typical for a department store fashion watch. This is about the bracelet - a solid three link design with cushion links, nice quality butterfly clasp with three micro adjustment ports. What gives? This is better in many ways than much higher end bracelets today. Kudo’s to the designer of the bracelet and I think a few high end brands today could learn from this (GS - I’m talking to you 😉, still no standard micro-adjustment?)

I'm surprised that the male case link there leads to a comfortable fit, but I'm completely unsurprised that a decades old fashion quartz watch is in fine running condition.

I think I am lucky that the case shape fits my wrist well. You are correct, it that wasn‘t true, there’d be no way for it to be comfortable.

I swear to you that I saw your exact watch in the showcase yesterday at Saver’s for 19 and change. I‘m going back to look at it!

Definitely worth a look at that price. It‘s ‘90’s shiny (think Miami Vice without the gold) but actually a very good watch. It has a 12-hour chronograph function, which I find the most useful of any kind of chronograph. I don’t find myself timing races much, but this one is good for letting me know how long the roast has been in the oven. 👨‍🍳
