Thoughts about an Omega mesh bracelet on a Seamaster 300

Does anyone here have first hand experience with the stainless mesh bracelets Omega sells?

I’m thinking about putting one on my 300 for the summer. It looks like it might be slightly more breathable in the heat and I won’t have to worry about scratching up the nicely polished bracelet. I’ll be traveling, spending a lot of time near the water and attending a few dressy events. This will be the only watch/strap I will bring.

I am not a fan of fabric straps. My only prior experience with this type of bracelet is from a Seiko 5 SRPD71 and I was underwhelmed with the fit.

Are these worth the price? Do you find them comfortable? Breathable? Do you like the look of the 300 on mesh?

Thanks for the feedback!

Hey there,

I do, personally, quite like the Omega mesh bracelet. However, the fit can be very wonky. Because it's designed for the Omega-style deployant, and metal does not bend and fold easily, depending on the size and shape of your wrist, it can result in weird bulges and whatnot.

The best thing to do, in my opinion, is to go to an AD and try one on! See if you like it!

In terms of looks, I think divers (especially vintage inspired) look awesome on mesh.

I’ve read that on a narrow wrist the double layer on the underside can be a bit bulky and wonky. My nearest AD is almost 2 hours away so I thought I’d hash it out here before I take the drive. But yes absolutely I will try one on before buying.

Not a super fan of the mesh only bc it immediately reminds of Skagen watches, which I’m not a fan of. I have the current 300m blue dial on the matching rubber and love the comfort, easy maintenance and the aesthetics - perfect for summer. At the end of the day, the adage of this hobby we’re all impassioned is simply: purchase, enjoy and love whatever speaks most to you.

Absolutely, I really enjoy how "you do you' and generally positive this community is. As far as straps go, rubber on a 300m looks great. On the 300 "heritage" I'm not so sure. I might have to pick one up and see how it looks.

Apologies as I totally overlooked your Seamaster is the “heritage” model (gorgeous/classy/versatile by the way). That said, I would agree a rubber strap might overly clash with the watch aesthetic, especially during those dressy events. Upon a second review, the mesh doesn’t look bad at all - a steel cousin to the No Time to Die SM! Looking forward to your final selection!

Yes , I often wear my 2014 Seamaster 300 heritage on a mesh- but I went for a tapering Staib rather than the Omega because the Staib tapers (better comfort and more elegant) and the Omega has far less adjustment (being limited to leather strap style holes rather than the traditional "infinitely adjustable" Staib). Plus it's quite a bit cheaper (for a far superior bracelet imho)

It's very comfortable and the style is bang on for the era. Love it 👍🏻

Not on the mesh today, but "No time to Spectre" 😂

I have one. It's great though I wouldn't recommend it for <7" wrists. It only wraps so tight before stiffening.

I’ve heard that from multiple sources. My wrist is 7.5 and fairly wide so hopefully it isn’t an issue. My “local” AD has a NTTD on bracelet in the case so I’ll be heading there to try it on before I decide.

Actually do you have a link for where you bought yours? I’ve been searching for the last few minutes and don’t see a 21mm tapered Staib anywhere.

Also, do you find it to be more or less breathable than the “factory” bracelet?

Sorry I haven't, I bought it well before lockdown maybe 2016...

Pretty sure I got it from Germany tho if that's any help

Apologies for not being more helpful, but they are out there!

Good luck 🍀

Mesh goes with just about everything, I prefer the Omega seat belt mesh over all others. That is what I would recommend in this situation as well.

How is the breathability of the omega mesh? The same or better than the link bracelet?

That mesh you posted almost looks solid so that would probably be similar to the link bracelet. The shark mesh style has open links which breathes very well.
