Is this supposed Elgin army watch legit?

Hey y'all, does anyone think this is kosher? $85 for an Elgin A-11? Seller says it's running. Probably needs a hell of a servicing, but I just be thought I'd ask

I'l give you $20 for the band.

Probably real and may or may not be serviceable. Seller might say it's running but just because it might tick for a while doesn't mean it's functional. 85 bucks is more than I'd pay. Offer him 30,sell Oscar the band and it'll only put you out 10 bucks.

Yeah "runs" is like a used car that "runs." Does it run smoothly and  consistently or it can just be made to move for a bit?

That said, as long as one is accounting for a worst case repair bill, go for it. I really don't see this as the sort of thing that one would fake, particularly for a price like this.

Okay gents. Foggy, I'll offer him $30. Worst thing he can do is accept it, then my wife will be after me for buying ANOTHER watch🤣🤣🤣🤣. Oscar, I'll let you know if he accepts the $30 and sell you that band.

Blurry pictures are a deal breaker, what are they hiding?

Pop the back - or at least argue for a movement picture

An undiagnosed case of parkinson's?

Assume not working.  Agree with pics of movement.  I believe the watch was issued to Army Air Corps at Orchard Field (ORD) (what is now O'Hare).  Would make sense since Elgin was local.

·

Don't buy it expecting for a daily wear. Parts for those are rare and expensive. They do not have shock protection on the balance and close enough all you can expect regulating those old things. They should be watch box ornaments at that age.

Ask for a movement picture and see if it has a serial number, then compare with this link

Well, I offered $30 as Foggy said. He counteroffered like $150. Which was almost twice what he was asking. I said good day.

Ooft - shame. That would have required some work.
