I think this watch has been getting unfair backlash. It’s a sub $300 dollar watch. You can bring up what microbrands are doing for the same price if you so choose. But if Omega is on the dial and it’s that relatively cheap, then you are a little foolish to even compare them. Any time a poll is taken that asks Design vs. Specs, design overwhelmingly wins. Rolex doesn’t have the best watches by spec, but they sell the best because of hype, history, marketing, design, etc. But like I said, you can tell me in the comments how many Paganis with steel and sapphire crystal you can buy if you want lol.
On another note about the watch here’s some first impressions below.
The strap is comfortable. Even though most people hate it.
The pushers have a nice clicking action.
The chrono hand seems to hit most the markers pretty well, even the ones it misses isn’t by a big margin.
The bio ceramic case is hard to describe. I know people go straight to “plastic feeling”. I don’t agree nor disagree, it’s definitely it’s own texture.
The domed crystal looks great.
It is LIGHTWEIGHT.
This isn’t the fault of the watch. But it feels like I need to be careful with it. Might be from all the crap people talk about it lol.
In my opinion, it’s not worth paying retail over, and not worth flying to another state/country for. If you can conveniently get one (which is the only reason I ended up getting one), then I feel like it’s worth it.
100% agree.
It seems to me that most of the complaining comes from people who bought one with unrealistic expectations, or people who can't buy them because they don't live near a Swatch store that sells them.
The MoonSwatch became "cool" to bash because a bunch of influencers did clickbait "reviews" bashing it to cash in on the popularity.
It has become intuitively obvious to even the most casual observer that the Moonswatch is, for the most part, a marketing joke amongst most watch people.
It is as far from an Omega as is possible except for the name slapped on the dial. It's lightweight because it's plastic not titanium.
Bioceramic , like polymer or composite, is a fancy deceptive word for plastic.
The awful strap might be comfortable for you, but as you state "most people hate it" and that says it all. Majority rules.
Like any quartz watch the hitting of the markers will vary, one example is NOT indicative of all examples.
They sell because because of the hype, and hype alone and it worked for you.
Moonswatch has zero history, design or anything else but a bad excuse to get people to spend money on a glorified Happy Meal watch.
I've always liked Swatch. I think it's really cool how they made a more accurate version of the Speedmaster.

So... People who appreciate their MoonSwatches for what they are, are nothing but dupes. While those that trash talk them are smarter than the hype?
Great argument...
They sell because they are fun. They sell for the same reason people spend more than $50 on watches, because they make people happy. You aren't superior because you dislike them, you just dislike them...
Certainty some of the backlash is a little unfair but some of it perhaps not so much , the reality is that it is expensive for a swatch watch and the durability of them is also questionable.
Yes the thing is peanuts compared to an OG Speedy , but that doesn't by default make it a good deal.
It seems like most were super happy with them at first but then reports came flooding in of buttons falling off and other issues.
We all know dissatisfied customers are always the loudest and a lot of the backlash has been about the release strategy. Perhaps the negatives are over exaggerated and the vast majority are still enjoying them with zero issue.
Hopefully yours holds up and continues to give you enjoyment. Congrats on your purchase. 🍻
I can’t disagree more. I truly dislike mine. The hour chrono does not run at all and neither does two other people I know. My watch maker friend said it is their least favorite movement, and I can see why. The strap is so so uncomfortable after even an hour or two and this is reinforced by the literal industry that has popped up selling aftermarket strap specifically for this watch. They moved around the sub dials so it’s not even in the shape of the actual moonwatch.
The colors are nice and it’s lightweight. It’s far from ugly. Plus I’m not trying to hate on anybody if you love it than I love that for you no hate at all.
I just think it’s a bit of a crap watch.
Nice work on getting a Mission to the Moon.
@KristianG has got it spot on. Fundamentally, there's nothing wrong with liking them, but I believe there is something wrong with the people that insist on throwing such hatred towards them.
The MoonSwatch is what got me in to watches, I'd not really looked at luxury watches before they came out. I own three of them and will continue to try and get a Moon. They also showed me that I don't really like Chronographs, and have no desire to own an actual Speedmaster, but for the price, these are fun watches I can wear without any concern and even act as a conversation starter.
Great looking watch...the h8trs will h8...just ignore them.
Here's a cool choice if you want to swap out the strap...I picked up a few for my Aliexpress "MoonSwatches" and they look great on these rubber straps...

Marketing joke, glorified happy meal watch, what’d the MoonSwatch do to you?😂
It’s a marketing joke to you. It’s pretty obvious what they’re doing it and they weren’t hiding it. They didn’t say it is entry level luxury or act like it’s the quality of an Omega. It says Swatch on the dial, it uses swatch materials, it’s obviously a Swatch.
Plenty of brands name things i.e Hardlex. Nobody thought it was a fancy material at under $300. Nobody said it’s better than steel.
Okay majority rules. You’re responding to a first impressions portion of a post. Don’t see why other peoples opinions matter when it comes my my first impression of a watch’s strap. Can you explain to me why it’s awful? Is it the stitching? Comfort? Durability?
You could use the logic regarding Quartz hand for anything. Screw down crowns, water resistance, dust on a dial, lume, etc. Everything can be on a watch by watch basis. Most people reading a reaction post to a Quartz watch want to know how that persons second hand is hitting the markers. Do a poll if you don’t believe me.
They sell because the hype only? I mean isn’t that why the watches that sell the most, sell the most?😂 F91Ws sell alot because of hype over many other sub 50$ options. So what? MoonSwatches would sell without the big drop they did. It says Omega and it’s under 300$.
Zero history? It’s making history as we speak and it hasn’t even been years since it dropped yet. What other watches created a stir like this? Lines day after day after day, selling out every day still to this day? Both brands on the dial have history. The design is great and altered from being a complete clone.
You sound like a salty ex😂

Well if that ends up happening to me I’ll probably end up hating it too and getting a Lunar Pilot😂
I find the stock strap uncomfortable for me in the side the velcro turns, i reccomend you try a Bond NATO one, fits perfect...
It think it's a really fun watch. Also, making a less attainable brand accessible for many that could never stretch to an omega. I personally haven't got one yet because it's never in stock. Although, I don't really know how much wear this waych would get. More than likely it would sit in a display box as a collectable item. Regardless, it's cheap and has a link to history, so I like it.
I bought my wife the "Mission to Saturn" because she thought it looked like it had a happy face on it, and she loves it.
It's lightweight alright.

I am a collector of "inexpensive" watches. But for a lot of you guys $300 is fun for a chump change toy you don't have to think about or can chuck in a drawer when you get bored. Yes its cheap, but even Pagani Designs gives you a better Speedy homage for less money and they put it in steel and cover it with sapphire. Yes its cheap, but that is not an excuse, there is much better cheap out there.
