So this morning on my way into work I started thinking of watches (probably a familiar thing for most people here) and I realized that I really appreciate a fluted bezel and cyclopes date, cue the OP fan boys and girls. And while I cant justify and honestly don't want to justify purchasing a new watch much less one with a Rolex price tag, I am curious if there are any other respectable pieces out there that have those characteristics? Also, since those characteristics are almost synonymous with Rolex, does a watch having those characteristics make it a homage piece?

I’d say the fluted bezel is especially rolex (and especially lovely.)
Other watches that look like a Datejust? You, my friend, are in luck, there are indeed.

Now I'm sure there will be a good bit of overlap among these lists, and many won't have a fluted bezel, but you get the idea. Also, there are a ton of modded Seikos on Etsy that, for my money, look better than a lot of other watches that try to look like a Rolex while telling they aren't trying to do that. The Etsy mods put "Seiko" on the dial, but everything else screams Rolex.

So I guess I never considered mods, but was thinking more so stand alone watches, be it micro brand or other. I think if I went to mods, Id wanna do something super different from the typical Rolex look. maybe get a fluted bezel on my FC highlife if I could find the right size and someone who with the know how.
