Is an arm swing without wearing an automatic watch wasted?

Do you sometimes find yourself walking a good day and think that this is great, as it builds reserve on the automatic watch... but then you realize that you have on a hand-wound or quartz watch and that no parasitic benefit is being derived?

I catch myself doing the wrist shake on days where I am not wearing an automatic.  It always feels wasted.

The sun also goes wasted if not wearing a solar watch. The earth’s gravity goes wasted when not using a pendulum clock, and even the rain goes completely to waste when not wearing one of these…

I'm so glad I'm not the only one 😂 and to answer - yes!

Never waste a walk on a perfectly good sunny day without strapping on a solar watch. 👍

I hope he remembered to wear an automatic.

I never think about my wrist/arm movement, but occasionally I find myself pointing my watch at direct sunlight after a decade of wearing a Citizen Eco-Drive... It ensures I get great day lume, so it's not totally wasted. 🤣

Not swinging your arms when walking is a sign of Alzheimer's. I learned on the Internet so it must be true.

·

Yep, wearing my Speedy today and caught myself feeling good about swinging my arm while walking to get a meatball sub and then realized how pointless it was (swinging the arms that is/ free lunch at work on Fridays is always worth it and almost the only reason I go to the office anymore).

·

I stay inside in the dark basement if I don't got a Solar on and it's a sunny day....

Oh my gosh! Do you own that water watch? I have owned the same one since about 1987 or 1988! I have only ever seen mine!

I try to whistle while I work...and gesticulate wildly as well.

I wish I did. I'm pretty sure yours was how I learned about it.

That's an interesting way to "wind your watch".

·

Yes and as a 1st aider I have to step in and offer comfort and assistance, sit them down and take signs and symptoms ask them if they need their meds, and I always have a spare rolex in my pocket to offer them for their swing(its all part of my hypothetical oath)

·

Why, yes. Definitely.

·

Pish, I only own automatic watches.  I wear them all the time.

Maximal efficiency.

Yes and when you wear a Timex with the noisy rotor, you miss the noise, however, the rotor noise is now replaced with the loud ticking on many of their quartz models.  lol.  Most people hate the noisy rotors and loud ticking, but I love them both.
