Just yesterday I came across this Frederique Constant Carree which looks very elegant I think. It comes in at $1495.

That's a very cool way of going about it, Vacheron also has watches with a retrograde date complication like that but seeing it in an affordable watch makes it even cooler.
Those are incredibly, what they are able to do with a module consisting of just a few parts and a standard ETA 2824-2 is insane. I have to look into these a bit more, thank you for bringing them to my attention.
