Time to downsize?

I have many more watches than this, but these are pretty much the only ones I wear these days. Time to sell off some stuff, or am I maybe jumping the gun a little?

I don’t even know how to go about selling the watches I barely wear, so there’s that too.

P.S. Guess which one I wore today, and there’s a shiny new quarter with YOUR name on it.

The Tudor!

Yes, sell your other unworn watches. There’s somebody else out there who will love them and cherish them.

I too have trouble figuring out where best to sell, but from my research, the largest community is r/watch exchange on Reddit.

I’ll get on there and check it out. Thanks!

And yep, it was the Tudor 👏

bottom right. it was placed last and pushed the one behind it and is out of line. Nice bunch of watches. Put the ones you don't wear by your bedroom door and you might change your mind. Watches in drawers are forgotten.

·

If those are the one you wear the most then keep those you got in display. And sell, trade or give as gift what ever. If you really that serious to down size keep to 3-5 watches. make sure that you pick out the ones that you really super like.

·

Do you have any good watches or just those?

I kid, of course.  I think that the Zodiac may be the best thing that the Fossil group has ever done.  I am partial to Zodiac, wearing one today.  I may start giving away some that I don't wear to nieces and nephews.

·

I have actually been toying with the idea of reducing my collection as well, but I am ambivalent about it. Nevertheless, I have looked into the best places to sell watches, and people seem to have some luck on eBay, or on Reddit, as mentioned by @Omeganut, or other social media like Facebook or Instagram, on similar watch exchange groups.

On a side note, I'd be interested in seeing the watches you are thinking of selling. If I buy one, I could even buy it in person. 😀

Don’t touch anything on the bottom row, straight class.

I’ve had some luck selling some older Seikos on Ebay in the past. You won’t turn a huge profit but it’ll at least go to someone who will wear it more.

·

I sold 5 sub $500 watches on eBay over the course of 2 weeks (post on those watches here: https://www.watchcrunch.com/s0ckpupp3t/posts/in-memoriam-gone-or-going-but-not-forgotten-8471).

First time selling anything on eBay as well. The “one stop shopping“ experience was convenient but I definitely paid for it through the 15% eBay fees and shipping costs.

That said, my primary goal was to find new homes for these watches with minimum fuss so mission accomplished.

Happy to answer any questions folks may have.

The Zodiac and Tudor get the lion’s share of wrist time (probably 75%), and I make a special effort to wear the other three because I love them.

@Max , any plans for a watch trading corner on the WatchCrunch product roadmap? 😉

These are the ones I’m thinking about selling. They’re great watches, but they don’t get any wrist time. I have more, but they’re cheap enough that they seem like more of a pain in the ass to sell than they’re worth.

That’s the thing, though. I have two watch boxes, both with glass tops, and the watches I wear sit right next to the ones I don’t. I see them every day, which I take to be a sign that I should sell them.

This would be awesome.

Oh cool. That’s definitely good to know. Thanks!

I might be interested in the Squale, although I probably shouldn't be. I just weakened and got a new Islander Baymont. 🤣 I already have an SRPG and a Mako II, and I have never really been much for the look of the Coutura line.

·

I might remember wrong but didn’t you have a SARB033? If so it would be a pity to sell that.

I answer myself. I mixed it up. It was a different post I was involved in.

Consolidate all of the potential sales watches into a single place that is out of sight and mind.  Then after a month if you feel the same way it will be easier to let them go.  Even if you aren't wearing them having them in the same box as your keepers might be muddying the waters and giving them a higher spot in the collection than they might otherwise.

Yeah, I think I may give the Coutura to my nephew.

This is exactly what I do and I am often amazed how many I come back to after a while and remember why I bought them in the first place and rekindle the love. At the same time those that I come back to after a while and still think "nah" I can sell on with zero regrets.

Leave those excess watches out by the curb on trash day.  Where did you say you lived again?

I just joined watch crunch yesterday. Do people buy sell trade on here?

First, welcome!!!

Second, no, there is no marketplace here.  Every time somebody posts a "for sale" thread, it gets taken down immediately.  My guess is that Max is trying to ensure that the place remains a safe haven for nerd discussions.  😜

·

I don’t think you need to downsize.  You’ve got a great collection, for me I find it difficult to let go of any of my watches cause I always find a reason to keep it based on my own personal memories attached to the watch.  Am I just a crazy hoarder? Could be, hahaha! 😅
